Yeah, that's the one sacrifice you make with the PS4S, a bit of straight line dry grip.

It still works very well once in its favored temp range, but practically hopeless at the drag strip or launching from a dig with a bunch of extra torque compared to stock.

Then again, the title of this thread is "Definitive Street Tire option", and the PS4S is definitively one.

11k on my SC3 with 5 track days. They still surprisingly grippy when they turn into slicks.

I'm use to the Michelin Super sports/PS4S, but kind of pricey at $1800 at Costco.

Any of you guys have good recommendations? Seems like the continentals are the main choice.
I would definitely go with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ZP all season tires. Tires designed for C8 corvette and tested with multiple C8 owners. Seems to be a great all season performance tire.

If you're looking for a tire that's less expensive than PS4S without much sacrifice of performance, I would go Conti ECs. I've ran several options on my car trying them out. Nitto R555, PS4S, Conti Extreme contact, Conti sport contact 5(sucked) and stock goodyear eagle runflats. Michelin is a great tire but pricey. I bought my extreme contacts for around $200 per tire on the fronts. Not bad for a 20" performance tire.

I would buy them again, / I do run them on the front and Nitto on the back. I like the launch traction I get from Nitto personally.

I got 11k out of my OEM Goodyears with NO track use. They really tramlined bad, but the car drove awesome in the turns. I went with a Bridgestone S007 that I just replaced that lasted 21k with about a 1/2 track weekend use. I made the mistake of buying S007A runflats on the front as they set of 4 was only $600 about a year ago. I had to throw on some Continental DWS06's on the front that my son got off a lot car where he works. They actually feel pretty good for an all season.
You definitely will lose some turn in feel with the Michelin 4S tires, but they lasted 28k miles on my 2017 1SS non-1LE.

This.
I had two sets of SC3's and got about 12k miles before the fronts got so noisy it sounded like a jeep with mud tires.

The PS4S's were on back order so I went with the Conti's, I've gotten about 28k out of the set of so far with still plenty of tread, but not as precise as the GY's in aggressive cornering.
Still quiet.

I forgot to mention the tramlining.
The GY's tramlined like no one business where it's almost non-existant with the Conti's.

The Michelins will be on next, maybe.

Yokohama now has the Advan Apex V601s available in factory sizes, I've only run G3s so far but I'm thinking I will try the Yokos next since they have excellent reviews both on/off track, price is really good, and have more treadwear with 25k mile warranty. Pretty sure I'll go 295/30/R20s on the rear since they're more readily available and weigh few pounds less than 305 width tires. I'm sure there will be a slight loss of grip compared to G3s on track but with the prices of tires these days and me only tracking for fun, not competitively, I'm sure these will be fine. PS4s are super pricey for what they are and I would guestimate they're not quite as good on track as the Advan Apex V601s.

I got about 11k out of my SC3's. They are not expensive, so I got another set. I don't track, but I like the car as I bought it. I like to keep that feeling, so sticking with stock made sense for me.

As long as those Yokos are nothing like the Advan Sports. I'm service advisor at a new car dealer and have been for 24 years. My mother in law's advisor at the Mazda store recommended those for her Mazda6 and I warned her about changing brand from the OEM unless she went up to Michelin or Conti. She had them put on and came over the next day asking me to drive it and tell her what was wrong. I think you would be better off with the Conti DWS06's.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport is a newer tire that is available in SS 1LE sizing. I own both the PS4S (on Camaro and a non-Camaro) and Sport (on a non-Camaro).

Although the PS4S is a great all around tire, I have never liked the softer sidewalls, especially when compared to the SC3.

I loved the SC3, except for the very noticeable tramlining when the tread was down to about 4/32. They are also a bit noisy.

I have been running the Sports since January (non-Camaro), and love them. I think of them as a PS4S with SC3 stiff sidewalls. They are also a little bit cheaper than PS4S.
