OEM PCV Valve Hose replacement

I recently broke my PCV Valve Hose. The GM dealer near me has a delay on shipment of 3-4 weeks due to Covid-19. The part itself its extremely cheap (around $9). Does anyone have an extra hose lying around or can get one to me in a few days? I am willing to pay extra for the part.

you can drive the car without it. i broke a fitting off the oil/water separator back in april. the passenger side hose is just hanging out, not connected to anything. no residue or any ill effects. even dyno tuned the car in that condition. i made a plug for the fitting.

Is that the hose from dirty side PCV to air intake?
Just buy a K&N breather filter. That hose you are replacing is the dirty side PCV. GM routes it into the air intake for emission standards.

You can run with a breather filter like in the old days. It’s just like a valve cover breather cap. Just plug the hose that goes into the air intake elbow.

It's not that hose. The picture you have with the KN filter is not the hose i'm referring to. It's the hose to the right of it.

Can you make a temporary replacement with a section of fuel hose and normal hose clamps? That’s what I used for my catch can while I waited to buy the squeeze connectors. Just measure the diameter of the connectors on the car and buy an appropriate section of hose.

been like this for awhile. a lot of wot, a dyno tune etc. i ordered the box in april but haven’t received it yet. before you ask, it’s a dropper from a paint correction kit (installed upside down) held in with gorilla glue.

i was going over the car the night before the scheduled dyno. broke that fitting off and had to do something. never expected it to be on there 3 months.

You can use a razor blade to score the plastic line and get the fittings off the line, then use some 3/8" hose

Wait, is this a thing? Will this prevent blowby from getting into the throttle body? I already have a JLT catch can on the clean side so I would like to know the benefits and disadvantages of doing this, just plug in the intake side I suppose?

Well the tuner I used Red Barn Racing” is a master mechanic as well. Formally at Cunningham's in Temecula CA and Mike advised me to run it this way. Also Lethal Garage runs it this way as others do I am sure of.

What I understand is that you will stop the blowby from the dirt side with this set up. The K&N breather filter will release blowby if something goes wrong on the dirty side like ring or piston damage. I was told that venting it into the TB was because of emission standards or something like that from the manufacturer/EPA.

What's the catch? Will it get the engine bay coated over time with blowby vapor? Do I have to cut the factory PVC hose?

If this is as brain dead and simple as it sounds I will do it, but I'd have to find plugs for the GM CAI.

That first picture is the clean side hose. The dirty side is the PCV valve line. The dirty side runs from the block to the intake manifold. That why you put a catch can on that circuit, to stop the oil vapor from getting into the intake manifold.

OP, just use a section of fuel line to join the broken hose together.

This performance PCV filter should be good for about 20 more HP.

A blow by will reduce engine efficiency by increasing the intake of oil and fuel. The piston rings and cylinder walls will wear; hence, allowing more fuel to flow to the crankcase. Blow by can affect the intake valves. When the blow finds its way to the cylinder, it can cause the engine to knock.

This is why you should have a catch can plus GM routing the dirty side PCV into the intake tube is only to satisfy the EPA emission standards. But hey if you say it gets 20 more HP all the power to you.(humour) In reality the breather filter does nothing for HP or performance, it ads longevity to your engine.
