What "aerodynamic edge"?

sorry but the 5.0's are actually exceptionally light.

Just weighed my 2011 Mustang GT Base (300A) w/ Manual 6-Speed.
Only Option is 3.55 Gears. This is not a Spoiler Delete Car.

Dry Shipping Weight (MSO): 3461 lb

Curb Weight - Light (3 gal of Fuel): 3520 lb
Weight Distr: 1920 lb (54.5%) F / 1600 lb (45.5%) R

Curb Weight - Full (16 gal of Fuel): 3600 lb
Weight Distr: 1940 lb (53.9%) F / 1660 lb (46.1%) R

That was on a Certified Scale that weighs individual axles and total seperately.
Should be accurate +/- 10 lb.

Note: Weights without Driver.

Brembo equipped cars do not weigh more than the regular car. the rotors are 5lb heavier each, and the calipers are 3 lb heavier each. but the brembo wheels are 2-4 lb lighter than the stock 18 inch wheels and 4lb lighter than the non brembo 19in wheels. believe it or not the pirelli summer tires are also about 3-4 lb lighter than the all season tires.

so while the brakes add 16lb the wheels and tires take off 20-32 lb each

Same or slightly smaller frontal area and slightly better Cd. Its not much, but its being compared to 14 hp on 400+ hp cars.

the brakes add 16lb the wheels and tires take off 20-32 lb each. so that is about 4-16 lb lighter for just checking off the brembo option.

im going to have to assume to guess the premium weight however. the base 2010 mustang GT weighed 3480 lb and my loaded premium GT weighed 3519 lb on a full tank when i weighed it at the track

so lets say the premium package adds 40 ish lb, and the brembo package takes off 4-16 lb

i think the most impressive thing i learned from that person weighing his 5.0 is how much weight gas actually adds.

16 gal adds 139 lb so if you run into a 5.0 that is at a half tank too thats a 70 lb difference........if only we could all run at a quarter tank all the time

I'm always amazed at the weight insinuation. What luxury features that you will actually find in a Mustang or Camaro do folks assume will weigh so much? In a Lexus I get it, but in this kind of car loaded largely includes things that don't really add weight outside of the occasional wheel and tire package, and even that is not absolute.

No doubt that most "luxury features" add little weight. Some other options do, though....such as XX-way power seats with this support and that support, and probably that glass roof that a lot of folks like. With other things, like leather vs cloth, the difference is very small.

BTW...lil_chef....gas weighs 6.2 lbs per gallon.
