Valve train is key
Plus the right connecting rods
2 of the most stressed areas in a engine.

What is the highest safe rpm on a stock ls3 without factoring in the rev limiter?

Without better valve springs 6800.

And with bt 660 lift springs With a .649 lift cam? What would be safe rpms to not get valve float or damaging heads on a a6

You also have to remember that Lambos and Ferraris all run flat plane cranks too. Thats where they get their high revs from. Fords new GT350 is running a flat plane crank and makes peak power at 8200.

It is a little more complicated than this.

Cam Ramp profiles, Cam specs, weight of valvetrain parts, type of rockers and a host of other factors all play a roll in what max RPM you can spin the engine.

Most cams for these engines will make peak power between 6200 and 6800 RPM

Shift points should be about 10% higher than where Peak HP occurs for best performance.

Rev limiters are there in the event of a missed shift and are not to be used as a parade device.

Yes believe it or not some cultures use the rev limiter in a parade.

Ted.
