Which car can be modified further? GT-R Vs SS
This is something me and a couple of car buddies have been discussing for a while now, which car can be modified farther? The Nissan GT-R has All-Wheel-Drive and has a 486hp 3.6L v6 engine,...the SS has 426hp/400hp 6.2L V8, which engine can be modified further and which would be more performance efficient?
I've seen and read about modified GT-Rs putting out 600-700hp, and I've also read about 700hp Camaros, I guess, with all things being equal which car would be faster? 700hp AWD GT-R Vs 700hp Camaro. Wouldn't a car with that much power and AWD be dangerous? Just picture the launches. Wouldn't it be something similar to a baby Veyron? In the end, I'm wondering would it be beneficial to purchase a GT-R and modify it or just keep what I have a modify that up whatever performance number I want...

When you start talking modding, it is all in how much you want to spend. With enough cash, I could put in an old J-57 jet engine in either vehicle and take away the whole rear wheel/all wheel controversy. If you have the money to buy a GT-R and start modding, why wouldn't you start with a base Corvette?

That is true, how fast your car is all depends on how much money your willing to spend.. but nothing can compare to the sound of the American V8 Muscle =D

Yep, there's no real limit to how far any car can be modified. Now, if you're talking about how far can you go on the stock internals or under a particular budget things get a bit different.

Without putting in a totally different motor on the GTR I would think the SS has the advantage. You can have 2000hp in a LSX based motor. I highly dought the Nissan V-6 based motor is going to come close to that. So unless you put an ultra rare and exotic motor in the GTR the SS has the advantage I would think. Once you get fully into modding the suspension and tire combo of the SS can take away or equal any advantage the GTR might of had and then you are basically left with power to weight which the SS can have a clear advantage at. However, if the GTR were allowed any motor and trannie combo then all bets are off and the one with the most money wins.

Actually, the LSX bowtie block is said to be good for 2500 hp. Its an iron block from GM thats based on the production LS series engines.

No worries, it simply reminded me of a Camaro that has gone just a little bit quicker.

im not siding with the GTR, but you guys need to realize a Turbo 1.6 liter V6 1980's BMW F1 maxxed the dyno cell at 1200hp. it was estimated it made 1500hp.
keep in mind that HP limits for smaller engines are not as hard to reach as 7.3 liter 4.25" stroke engines. if the GTR block can handle it, enough money can achieve it.
