Most people have had success with drives 16G and under and the preferred file format is .mp3. You should format the drive first using the FAT32 format as well. You will find a 16G drive will hold approximately 3500 songs.I have a few 2G mini drives which seems to work well and doesn't take forever to index them.

I prefer these as they don't stick out of the socket very far and can be found on Ebay for a couple of bucks.

I used an 8GB thumb drive with .mp3 format.

I didn't think to use a thumb drive because all I used the port for was to charge the phone. Until a couple of years ago I used CDs in the car but for other reasons I ripped a couple hundred CDs onto my laptop and thumb drive to use in my truck. I was looking at threads on upgrading the car stereo and found an article about the stock radio and using the USB port. Guess I need to read the manual lol

Ahhhh ! I think it was a 32Gb that I had laying around. And the FAT32 file format never crossed my mind, but that makes sense. I should have thought of that, thanks.

It turns out it just doesn't like the NTFS format. I reformatted the same 32Gb stick and copied the music folder back to it, and it works. So just FYI it will take a 32Gb drive.

I use my older iPod classic 7th Gen. I updated the iPod with a 512GB SSD and play Apple lossless Audio Format. It’s sound great and browsing is fast and very comfortable.

Ordered a ZL1 air filter, P/N 23116124 (ACDelco A3177C). Supposedly slightly higher air flow. For a few more ponies why not.
