From Drive to M2 without touching shifter?

Driving down the road at 40 to 45 mph. Started to pass a car and stepped on the gas and the car shifted to m2? I immediately let off gas and shifted up in to neutral. Then back down to drive and it remained in drive??? Happen to anyone else?

You may have accidentally flicked the paddle behind the steering wheel? Even in D, if you hit the paddles, the car will temporarily go into manual mode.

You kicked in performance shift mode. Hit the gas quickly and it kicks in very easily if you are around 40mph or more. You can kick the shifter to the left and the back to the right to kick it back out of that mode. I would not shift the car into neutral and back into drive unless absolutely necessary.

If it shifted to M2 then it wasnt performace shift mode - he must have hit the paddle on accident.

I've done this at the drag strip accidently by having my hands in the wrong position after I launched the car and I knew it when I did it and was able to react quick enough so I didn't have to abort the pass. It popped right up on the dash and I knew I'd barely toughed the paddle shifter.
