Joyriding

So I have been working from home for about 8 weeks now so I don't get the enjoyment of driving my car to work everyday. I have resorted to taking a short joyride every afternoon just for the hell of it. I know I am racking up unnecessary miles but I bought the car to drive and enjoy so not worried about that. Anyone else find themselves driving around for no good reason?

I would never purposely NOT drive any car of mine because of mileage. Sure, ya need to pick up lumber, you don't drive the Camaro. Or maybe you built a racecar that isn't overly comfortable on long drives, so you take the sedan. I don't drive mine more than once or twice a week, but its not because of mileage.

As for driving just for the heck of it... I have loops around my area ranging from a few miles to about 50 miles. All two lane backroads, and I regularly drive them just for the heck of it. Sometimes my wife will navigate and try to find new ways around. Sometimes she WON'T navigate and will just start picking roads she doesn't know. Sometimes we'll pick up sandwiches in ONE town, and drive to a park in another to eat. ....no shortage of ways to get out and drive for "no reason", lol!!!!

No such thing as unnecessary miles, in my book. Regular routes that I take just because I like the view. Honestly, I can’t drive my car enough.

The Z/28 I take out for power runs at least twice a week. Usually solo and later in the evening. I find that if I take a passenger along the experience is not as enjoyable due to distractions. I too have several different routes anywhere from 20 to 40 miles. Something very therapeutic about running my chosen route for that particular session monitoring parameters, changing shift points and hanging corners.

Driving has always been a pleasure for me. It is an escape. Whether its a VW Bug or a Venom GT....I will always enjoy the drive. So, yeah, if the ground is dry and the time is there, I hop in the Camaro and go....even if its just to drop a letter in the mailbox at the post office.

Yeah I always find a reason to get out of the house and drive the Camaro! Even just going to the convenience store to buy a jug of milk!

I get out of the house every few days for groceries. I could just buy for the week, but just love to get out and go about 25 miles or so, just to keep the fuel moving and not sitting.
I think the funniest thing about driving is that people's heads turn when they hear the pssshht sound from the turbo and have been asked if I'm twin turbo lol. Tell them it's only a 4 banger, their eyeballs about fall out lol.

Many of my lunch hours (also working remote for almost 10 weeks now) are spent taking a nice drive to nowhere! Love driving this car and it sure breaks up my day and keeps a huge smile on my face.

Mileage be damned! The car is made to be driven!

Last weekend also had a nice long drive out to the east end of the island, was about a 4 hour cruise start to finish. Weather was fantastic! No destination, just a long drive, some scenic stops for pics and one quick errand on the way back. Great Saturday that was!

Drive that car!!!!

I picked up eight 40 lb bags of water softener salt from HD for my mom a few weeks back. Dropped the back end about an inch and had a bouncy ride home but otherwise it was all good.

Yes. Part of my pick me up routine is doing WOT pulls until I'm grinning ear to ear. I know some twisty back roads to enjoy on those days too.
