Son is getting a 2019 Mustang Gt California Pkg

I only post this, because after test driving the car Saturday, holy crap it sounds amazing, has a really nice interior and looks pretty good outside too. I was a non fan until we looked at this set-up.

We looked at a non Cal Pkg and it was not even close, they really stepped it up with the Cali Pkg and again the sound is amazing, Active Exhaust with 4 levels of loud. Even the new Digital Dash is really nice.

I would like that interior in the ZL1. Then I would have my perfect car.

Nice car, I usally don't get why people hating each others cars. Mustang has pretty good daily driver qualities, while I think the Camaro is the better performance car.

The only things I really don't like about Mustangs is the cheap build quality (take a look for huge gaps between bumper and headlights on the refresh and seats that wear out way too fast), SYNC3 user Interface is looking like a Fisher Price tablet and that you can't set up how in what mode your car should start. Every time you start the car the exhaust note is back in normal mode

Well , unfortunately all three, Mustang, Camaro and Challenger, are behind in build quality and reliability as compared to the industry's main stream autos that cost thousands less. The Challenger is actually rated the highest in those categories, but its also traded in the quickest. The Mustang is rated the lostest of the three, but all three need improvement especially for what they cost.

Fake side scoop?

I loved my 2016 GT except for some stuff. I am sure he will have fun.

The exhaust of the 2015-2017 sucked BIG TIME. But I agree the refresh sound really nice!

I just traded my 2017 Camaro 2LT for a base 2018 GT. I am not and have never been a Mustang fan but after the transmission problems with my Camaro and test driving 3 brand new Camaros and a used C7- that all did not drive right or there was a problem with, I started looking at other makes. Plain and simple, the GT- and mine is BASE, I bought brand new for a little over 30K, 6.5 less than my Camaro. And oh yeah after that horrible A8 in the Camaro I got a 6 speed manual. I love the car- not because it's a Mustang because it does everything it's supposed to do- drives and tracks straight, everything works, it shifts great, sounds great, etc. But there will always be a sweet spot for Camaros that I will always have and I turn my head for every one that I see on the road.

Congrats- the GT California edition is a nice car!

The one thing I'm envious of the Mustangs is their sound. For whatever reason, the Camaro team decided to tame the sound down so much that you don't know you have a V8, soundwise, unless you're on it.

Never really understood the hate between Camaro and Mustang, they are both great cars IMO. Your son is going to love the new ride and it looks great, Congrats to him.

I bought a 2018- with the re-designed tranny and clutch. I would never buy a pre-2018. I even test drove a 2017 and did not like the tranny feel at all. The 2018 tranny and clutch has a way different feel to it. I am really, really picky on M/T- coming from Civic SI's and Miatias which have the best gear boxes in my opinion. I was not even thinking to buy a GT, not even on the radar until I test drove the 2018- which was just to rule it out. Not sure how it will hold up long term but I don't and won't drive it hard. I would have preferred a Camaro with a V6, manual (more than enough power for me) but the shifting and the box in the GT felt so good, I bought it. It's base any way, no track package, nothing, so no drag races or track use- still more than good enough cruiser for me, and it has a really sweet sounding V8.

If I was going to track I would get a Miata ND Club and add a ton of goodies or a Camaro SS 1LE- a no brainer.
