My cap says 5W30 on my 2017 ZL1. I would use the oil grades your owners manual states. Simple and easy and done!

Did you all do a 500 mile/1,500 mile oil changes during break in phase? What intervals? Just street driving, no track yet. Thanks

Use the factory recommended oil and filter. You gain nothing by doing otherwise.

This is an old thread but, is anyone using a ZL1 1LE for autocross? What oil weight are you using? I've had issues in the past with too thin and too thick of oil while autocrossing.

Assuming the motor is properly warmed up before any runs i dont think you could go wrong with it. Having said that, many here track their cars (non ZLE models) on sticky tires incl slicks and by and large (i believe), run 0 or 15W40. So, this is a bit inconclusive, as GM doesn't state that other Camaros must run thicker oil on stickier rubber... Bottom line, if warranty is a consideration, then I would run what the manual specifies. Cheers! |

But, GM switched factory fill to 0w40 and hence all newer cars now say 0w40. Because GM dealers carry it now |

After the first 500 miles, I switched to Motul 5W40 and I'm going to use it for track and street duty.
If I would drive the car in freezing environments, I would go with 0W40. https://www.motul.com/fr/en/products...an-gen2-5w-40# |
