Manual 1LT 1st and R Issues
Have my 1LT V6 manual for a few days. Noticing it does not like going into 1st and reverse when stopped about 20% of the time. Sometimes refuses to go in at all, sometimes it will go half way in and pop out when releasing the clutch. When this happens sometimes it will make a grinding noise and sometimes it does not. Double clutching does not seem to make a difference (clutching out in neutral before going to 1st or R) shifting to second then back to 1st or R seems to resolve and will go in easy. All other gears have no issues.
Might be due to car being very new, but this is my third manual vehicle and have not had this type of problem before. (The 370Z and Mustang GT would sometimes grind into 2nd but not as often as this) Saw an older thread in this that died in 2021 but was combining two different issues and transmissions. Is this normal for this car? Keep in mind the L4/V6 have a different transmission than v8 models. |

Id keep working with it given its so new but keep an eye on it, its def unusual even for brand new not broken in, I doubt that what you describe is a break in thing.

Maybe change the tranny and diff fluid 10k miles . I changed mine a few weeks ago at 37k miles. It was easy should have done it sooner. It shifts better now. Sometimes I bump in it 1 st to make it go in reverse.

Might have air in the clutch actuator line. Step on the pedal about 100 times, should push out the air, see if it goes away.

I think it was a break in issue. The shift actuator is getting much smoother the longer I drive it. I have had about five trips in a row where I did not have a 1st or R issue, still happens every now and then though.
