Those that have tried the Eibach and BMR sets please post opinions. Thank you |

I just installed the 1LE SPEC Eibach springs and 100% improved the car all around! No regrets whatsoever. No issue with alignment. My shop has a very good machine as well hook up to the rack and pinion with a computer. The car drives absolutely perfect! I have put about 400 miles on them so far.

Great to hear, the Eibachs were the ones I was most considering.
Only concern was that there are a few videos out showing issues with alignment after install. Maybe they installed the standard SS springs. |

Any issues with achieving track alignment after installing these springs?
This will be for a 22 SS 1LE. |

Remember to "time the bushings" on all rubber suspension bushings. Otherwise at the new static ride height the rubber bushing will be in a state of twist. It should be in a neutral state at rest. This new twist can create additional roll stiffness that the dampers do not account for. Many times after a drop, the owner complains of bouncy ride. This is because they did not time the bushings. that additional resistance can also limit how much the new springs actually drop the car. There are spherical joints on many spots on the Gen6, especially the 1LEs, these do not need to be timed, only the full rubber bushings.

Wanted to bring this topic back up. I'm looking at either the Eibach or YYZ lowering springs, but remain undecided based on many of the threads I've reviewed. I track the car about 5-10 days per year so I don't really want to mess with the handling too much. I plan on putting camber plates on up front and figured I could do the lowering springs at the same time. Seems like most guys tracking the car seem to keep things stock, but looking for more feedback on those who are running aftermarket on track.

I would add BMR springs to your list, and possibly put them @ #1 considering you track the car.

My car does not have mag ride, but I do track the car. The springs, paired with the struts/shocks from the GM lowering kit are what I am using. I do like the way the car feels planted at speed. I am also running Hotchkis sway bars, track oriented alignment, various other suspension mods, etc....

@sdf62, how does the gm lowering kit feel on street and track. Did you improve your lap times dramatically? any issues with rubbing, and how does the stability feel at high speeds?

In regards to the GM Lowering kit, I only used the struts / shocks. I would sell the springs from the kit if anybody is interested. When I decided to go with the YYZ springs, there really was not another good option available to pair with the new springs. They were valved for a lowered Camaro. I talked to Bilstein and they didn't have any shocks currently available that would have been compatible. I spoke with the developer of the YYZ springs and he had a shock designed for the springs, but in my opinion they were not a cost effective option.
I don't have any rubbing issues even with running Hoosiers. I am using factory spec. sizes and offsets on wheels / tires. I am currently running camber of -2.6 front and -2.0 rear. I have relocated the wiring harness in the left rear as a precaution. The car is very stable at speed and under braking...even on the very technical Ozarks International Speedway. If I ever become dissatisfied with this set-up, I would go full coil-over from Vorshlag. They are very helpful and easy to talk too about the subject. There are a couple guys from the Forum that have gone that route. I am using their solid upper rear shock mount now. However, sometimes the checkbook can be the deciding factor on many mods! |
