GIMME Shelter!!!

Ok Boys,

It doesnt get any better than this. Listening to GIMME Shelter and looking at track files on the Garmin.

This of course shows both the GARMIN and IPHONE holder install with LITTLE to NO cables showing and me of course ROCKING OUT!!! You can see the garmin camera towards the top of the screen.

More testing This saturday

This saturday 2/11 we will be going out to my home track, MOTORSPORTS Ranch Cresson TX. We will be testing on the 1.7 CCW and Adam Poland at DOGHOUSE PERFORMANCE will be tweaking my new coil over set up.

We will LOWER the rear ride height about a half of inch. Probably dial in MORE negative camber on the REAR of the car and play around a little with the rebound and compression settings if we feel that is necessary.

FAST LIST record for THIS track is around 1.16.68. We hope to be in the 1.15's or even 1.14's. I will post up video afterwards.

Quickest time at MSR Cresson CCW

Testing today went well. Car did a 1.15.83 CCW on Motorsports Ranch CRESSON TX. on the 1.7 CCW. On THAT particular run ADAM POLAND of DOGHOUSE PERFORANCE was driving.

Time was captured on a GARMIN Catalyst, screen prints are below, The VIDEO file was NOT captured because there was an issue with the DAMN SD card.

Below the pics is a PDF file of my alignment settings This how we set up the alignment up PRIOR to this run. We INCREASED negative camber on the rear quite a bit.

Thanks!! The garmin is telling me we can be 1.4 seconds faster than this but I think that is BS. No doubt we can go faster but to be 1.4 faster in my opinion we will need more AERO. We are happy currently with the compression and rebound settings that I mentioned about in an earlier post on these KW coil overs

I have about an half inch higher wheel gap on the rear wheels vs the front wheels which have basically a one finger gap. We were going to lower the rear half an inch but we decided NOT to because that would make the rear a little looser Since it is barely noticeable I chose function over aesthetics

A great benckmark car on this track is. 911 GT2 RS. That car can do 1.14s on this track. That is quicker than a mclaren 720 or a race prepared ZR1. I think we can get my car a little quicker than this with right AERO A Mclaren 765 on slicks would probably be in the 1.10s making it the fastest production type car.

Congrats that is a smoking fast time. I will be running the 1.7ccw March 3-5, doing NASA TT3

By the way the 1:16.68 lap record on the 1.7ccw was done by the Blue Dragon, a 800 hp gutted race car on slicks, driven by pro driver Camron Lawrence who was doing some testing.

Adam did the 1.15. The quickest I could do today was 1.16. I noticed that the car kept getting little quicker with each lap. Adam tried to paddle shift the car but found that leaving it in AUTO mode (competitive shift) worked the best. The manual paddle shifts were NOT responding as quickly as he wanted so thats the reason he went back to full auto. Obviously the nannies were turned off as always. Outside temps were 52 degrees. Tire pressures were 24PSI front and 23 PSI Rear COLD. Tires were MICHELIN Slicks 30 650 18 N3 compound all the way around. We had an overcast sky.

The REAR still is not sticking quite as hard as we would like. The Back Sway Bar is at FULL STIFF so we may try the middle hole next time.

We DID NOTICE that in the week or so that I have had these KW coil overs on that the suspension settled about half an inch LOWER then when we first put it on. There currently is about a one finger gap between the top of the tire and the wheel well on BOTH front and rear. The reason we suspected the suspension had settled slightly was because we could only get a MAX of -2.4 camber on the REAR of the car initially and a week later we could adjust it to -2.8 to -2.9

I get doubting the Garmin but keep in mind, the optimal is your theoretical best lap if you put all your best segments together.

Would aero help? Absolutely! But sometimes you can be just on the edge of adhesion on the those fast corners and be nearly as fast.

Again, optimal is based on what you already proven to be possible. Supposedly at least!

Well the 1.15.83 was only .1 off the optimal lap which was 1.15.71. As I posted IF you took all the opportunities the Garmin SUGGESTED then it claims you could be 1.4 seconds FASTER than 1.15.83 which would be a 1.14.43. Now THAT'S the stat I have a hard time believing. The car can go faster no doubt iwith its current set up but NO WAY in my opinion is 1.14.43 possible without some changes.

Am I reading this right? you set rear camber at -2.9. but later on added more?

OR the 2.9 is after the increase?

No, it is -2.8 to -2.9 AFTER the increase. WE could only get -2.2 to -2.4 MAX after we first installed the coil overs because the suspension hadnt had time yet to settle in the rear.

Also the tire gap NOW is basically the SAME front and rear with a one finger width gap above the tire to the center lip of the wheel well. So basically the car in the rear settled down about half an inch from where it was INITIALLY.

When we got the fast list record on Eagles Canyon Raceway, the alignment settings were at the more conservative -2.2 to -2.4 on the rear and thats why I mentioned I KNOW we can go faster there as well.
