Have these sold yet? How much padding do they add? Were you able to compare with stock and with these? I figured I would just mod the stock knee pads by adding padding and fabric covering but buying some already done seems easier.

Have not sold yet. They’re just the ones from GM so basically no padding, I think it’s just plastic wrapped in black suede. You’d probably have to go with an aftermarket set that promises additional padding or do it your self like you stated.

I’ll just add that the suede units DO have some padding. My guess is it’s same thickness as the leather pads. I’ve owned a couple sets of the suedes (in my last two cars). They’re decent quality, much more comfortable than the plastic only units. They do have a tendency to get a bit matted / dirty, but do clean up quick with a quick damp rag wipe down.
I tried adding padding and some microsuede a couple years back (to the hard plastic). It didn’t work out to well, so I grabbed a suede set. If you just want to change up the color or add just a tad bit of softness to the hard plastic, you can can easily add some decent pleather w/ a felt backing for around $26 (with plenty of spare material left for a do overs)… I used a deeper red color than the OEM red…which I like better for my specific interior. 3M Super 77 adhesive works well. Krops and OP good luck with sale…. |
