New unlocked TCM or send mine off to HP Tuners?

Which is the best idea? I can be with out the car so sending off is not a problem. Will i get mine back if I do? Any advantages of getting the new one from hp tuners?

Just send yours out then if you don’t need the car as a daily. They’ll unlock yours and send it right back. When you pull the tune, it’ll be a base tune you can use for editing. Note that when you upload a new tune, you won’t be able to retrieve it from the TCM (you’ll just get the base tune again).

Unless the way they're doing things now, it seems like this is the best way to avoid issues. HPTuners has been really good for me, and fast, with this sort of service.

Agreed. My TCM unlock turnaround was very quick…~24 hours.

How long did it take from shipping it out to receiving it back?

I overnighted it out, within 24 hours they had it shipped overnight back. So probably 3 days start to finish if I remember correctly.
