Drive 1 mile to tire shop with complete flat tire

Got a flat tire, it was so bad that it couldn't be inflated to any pressure, not even with tire repair kit, not even 1 psi.

Car is at home, tire shop is 1 mile away from my home. If drive slowly to tire shop for 1 mile, is it going to damage wheel?

I probably haven driven 1 mile already to home, after noticed low tire pressure, before tire pressure dropped to 3 psi, or is the wheel already damaged?

I don’t think the wheel is damaged... moreover with constant pressure in it but the tire maybe hasn’t appreciated ...

Just a question
What is thé alert for a tire Low pressure ?

Could you tell me with précision thanks ?
Mine is being french-homologated and thé guy told me there was an alert but couldn’t tell me what... just it was a red car picture turned on two Times and no more ...I thought it could be a tire pressure

Bad idea. If you can’t get a single PSI to hold, you shouldn’t drive it. ~700 rotations is plenty to cause irreparable damage. Recommend removing rim, removing wheel weights (use dental floss) and bringing it to them separately. If you don’t remove wheel weights yourself, they’ll do it for you...With a screwdriver, chisel, etc, and take your powder coating with it.

Uh, aren’t these run-flat tires we’re talking about? There shouldn’t be a problem driving a short distance (<10 miles) for repairs.

If it was an absolute emergency, like you're on the side of a 4 lane highway, yes, you could drive it there and risk some damage. But this is no emergency. You have time. Lift the car, take the wheel off, remove the weights as said, and take it to the shop for new rubber. Not worth the risk whatsoever.

The ZL1 and SS/1LE performance tires aren't run-flat tires.

Driving a damaged tire risks the possibility that the tire will rip or shred and potentially cause damage to the suspension and/or body in addition to the wheel damage. If you haven't already damaged the wheel then I wouldn't risk more damage driving on a flat tire. If you do have wheel damage then you might want to have it checked before you put a new tire on it.

Your 3/36 warranty may have some roadside assistance coverage with the dealer that will help you. The ZL1 wheels are pretty expensive to replace. Even if you don't have roadside coverage it will be less expensive to use Uber or a taxi than to replace the wheel. Or call the tire shop to see what they'll charge to come to you. Also call ahead to make sure they actually have a replacement tire before you make the trip. Good luck!

Nope. You will screw up the wheel PDQ.

Your best bet is take the wheel off and have the tires shop fix it.

Agree 100%. The thing I might add is that even if you cannot remove or transport the wheel to the shop, it would still be cheaper to have a flatbed tow it there than replace a wheel. And definitely call first, it is highly unlikely they will have that tire in stock.

Mark,

You are SO correct. I traded my SS which had RF’s in for my ZL1 two years ago mistakenly thinking it had the RF’s. Guess I should consider buying an extra can of sealant. 😁
