RPI Designs Painted Bow Tie

Anyone have them? Opinions of quality etc...

Thinking about Red Hot. I think it would look great on my Riverside Blue car.

Although not with this specific item, my general experience with RPI is positive, their products are decent and turnaround times quite reasonable.

I run their mudflaps (bought the fronts twice because I'd lost one at the drag strip, my bad), and earlier I purchased a painted custom spoiler from them that came in flawless and well packaged.

Looks pretty sharp! Know of anybody making a front one for a ZL1? The hollow bowtie

January 31st - I ordered a set of color-matched sideskirts and a splitter for around $900.

January 31st - Received a message from Jenn stating there is a 6-week turnaround time.

January 31st - I responded back with the go-ahead. Quality work is worth a longer wait time.

* The 6-week mark was March 14th. *

April 8th - (9 weeks) Sent a message to Jenn to check on the order status.

As of today (April, 22nd) I still haven't heard a word from them.

If you check online reviews, this is typical. Reviews indicate good quality but response time and customer communication is absolute dog shit.

I wouldn't reccomend them. As said earlier their customer service is terrible and their turnaround time on products is 50/50. I ordered a painted bowtie with my first car as and it took longer than the suggested time for delivery.

Talk to River City Creations they are a good slternative.

While I agree the price is steep, the Bowties themselves are ~$100.

I look at it in terms of "What is my time worth". So instead of a couple hours of prep and paint I will pay the difference to someone that has the capability to do it quick and do it right. And if I mess up it costs me.

This^

Bowties. PN# 84219485 - $90
1 or 2 cans/colors of spray paint, plus 1 can clear. - at least $15
Scotchbrite - $5
tape - $5 bucks
...and at least an afternoon to clean, prep, prime, paint and clear.

I mean...how much would YOU guys charge???

I've painted countless things on pretty much all my cars over the years, do my own touchups and minor body fixes, as well as doing similar work for a living in the Sign Business. I regularly get people who are shocked at a price to make a sign, as they expect the price to be well under the price of simply the materials. ...I totally get $135 being more than someone would want to pay. I probably wouldn't. But that doesn't mean it's a rip off. When GM makes these, they spend tens if not hundreds of thousands in tooling, then they pop outta the machine for a few cents a piece. When RPI, River City, and places like these make 'em, someone is hand making them. It's no rip off, even if it's more than you'd be willing to pay.

Car parts are expensive as a whole, pinning it on RPI when 2/3 of their price goes to the bowties themselves is disingenious. I personally have never had a problem with them or their products, one only has to watch a few of their videos to see these are likely decent, hardworking guys that make but a few bucks on these pieces.

<offtopic>...the irony is when the same crowd turns around and wants deep 6-digit salaries for say, writing software that can be duplicated infinitely at no cost. The walmart/amazon prime mentality has clearly permeated many a mind.</offtopic>

Taped mine off, cleaned with alcohol, hit with steel wool, 3 coats of flat black, maybe 15-20 minutes.

Paint it yourself (in red)

Save yourself a lot of green and do vinyl overlays. For a couple bucks of red vinyl and a little work you can get nice red bow ties for a couple bucks!
