I'm not sure why you keep saying the DBR is not a Drag Radial and calling it a slick? It IS a drag radial its even in the name "Drag Bracket Radial". If you look inside the tire you can clearly see the radial construction as apposed to bias ply, also the sidewall construction is also a give away. That being said you are right sadly its not DOT approved, if you are racing in DOT specific classes.

I ran the 305/45/17 ET R's and switched to the DBR 28/10.5/17 and couldn't be happier. Tire works much better, lighter, and was cheaper at the time. Now with ET R's being impossible to get for the past 1.5 years I expect the DBR's will soon get all bought up too. =(
The Hoosier video for the DBR emphasizes the issue I had with the ET Street R - lack of stability

DB, I'm not saying it is not a drag radial, it is. But, it is a drag radial SLICK, not a drag radial D.O.T. "D.O.T." being the critical, missing descriptor that would solve our problem. Hoping they will make a version of it with some groves like the Street R and get it D.O.T. approved.

I ran my 275R with a 245 up front. I wonder if that is why it felt stable

Mine vibrated over the last half of the track. It has 4S 305s fronts, which I'm not crazy about for several reasons including the tread drags water out of the box. Need racing skinnies with little tread.

I back into the box. Yeah skinnies will do the trick and make you faster. I am 60min from the track and no car trailer, otherwise I’d have skinnies…I’d prob have bias plys too tho

One can dream

I don't believe the track will let me back in, but I'll ask. If I stay with 19" fronts, I could do a Nitto 245/30R19

Bandimere will not you drive around and back into the box, because Roy Hill got run over by a racer who did that at some NHRA track.

I took the gamble on another set of MT ET street SS's. 305/45/17. Both balanced with minimal weight and work well on the street with no vibration. Im happy with them. My last same size set were a mess. Never would balance correctly.

Again, I made two passes on the MT's with 18# and they shook like crazy.

I then put the Toyo R888Rs on with 32# and they also shook down track. After the 2nd pass, the car went completely dead, so much so that even the manual trunk release wouldn't work. A 100% dead Antigravity battery.

I then put the OEM battery back in it, increased rear pressure to 36 and front to 38. No shake or elec. issues.

My guess is that I would NOT feel any shake with the MT with higher pressures, say, 20-24, and a good battery, i.e., no elec. issues.

Having said all that, I'm putting NT05 on it this week, 245 front, 335 rear.
