Summit Point Requiring Rear Recovery Tow Hooks

Hi Folks,

The days are getting warmer, my summer tires are itching to get back on a track! Definitely hitting Summit Point again. Buuuut they require a rear tow hook at intermediate & above... Anybody found a decent place/way to attach one? Anybody work at Summit Point who might be able to help with some guidance regarding this requirement? Will a pull-rope work? Does either have to be secured into any specific part of the body? Frame or something?

Still sorta new to racing, but in love so far & very excited for the coming season!

Thanks in advance to all for any insight!

I have been driving my Camaro there for almost 5 years and ive never heard this. What I do here is if you dont have one we are gonna hook to whatever we can get to.

Is this in a set of rules somewhere?

To answer your question the only one ive seen you cut a hole in the bumper behind the license plate.

most places only require front tow hooks and thank god you will never have to use it but if you have to use a rear you will have to drill a hole in the rear bumper or plate area

I was on motorsportsreg looking at signup days for intermediate, which had that written out as a requirement...

I checked with Summit Point about this 'requirement' as I signed up for a track day in April that stipulated the same thing.

Having discussed the issue with them, they understood that our cars don't come with a pre-set rear tow hook or option for it.

For that reason and to avoid any safety issues from folks jerry rigging the darn thing - they told me I'm fine just having the front tow hook.
