Isn't the ZL1 a bit too porky for autocross and that might be why?
Not trying to diss that car, after all, mine is probably just as heavy now, but people don't tend to choose a 4000-lb powerhouse for autocross where you can't use the extra power at 120+ mph...

A lot of people I know have the zl1 or zle to autocross here in SoCal. But we did have a large lot with up to 80 mph at the time. Now just smaller little car lots. Most with staggered larger zle size wheels and tires and camber plates and more camber. But that’s about it.

I got the calibration flashed to my car and wanted to leave something here for anyone that might be searching later.
Whether the dealer service tech is able to apply the calibration for your car is dependent on the person at GM Techline that answers the phone when they call. If the person knows what to do, all should be good and you should be on your way with an updated module within an hour. If they don’t, they may waste a couple hours trying to figure it out before ultimately giving up. If that happens to you and you’re like a bunch of people I’ve spoken to in the past couple weeks, you might repeat this experience at four or five more dealers before it works out, but you should be able to avoid it. The way to avoid it is for the dealer service tech to hang up on Techline and call back when the Techline person doesn’t know what to do and then repeat that until someone answers that does know. If it’s going to be a successful call, the service tech should be able to tell pretty quickly. Somehow, you need to get this communicated to the service tech whether you can talk to them directly or the service advisor can convey the message. It's ridiculous that it works this way, but is what it is.

Nope. To get the download, a dealer will need your own VIN code. Therefore, it's on a "per car" basis rather than "per module."

I've heard the oem ZLE calibration is pretty close to the autox cal for the SLE, which makes sense since the ZLE comes with R comp tires.

I guess the ZL1 1LE's lack of magride and different gear ratios and different final drive ratio might prevent it from working but I'm no expert on this. |

I don't know for sure if a module from a ZLE will work in an SS 1LE. As you noted, there are a lot of differences in the chassis setup, so maybe not.

Is the eLSD controller separate from MagRide? I was always curious to try it out as AutoX calibration since ZLE wants to hang ass our sideways.. while fun, not exactly fast.

Yes, it's the small Chassis Control Module on the floor of the trunk just behind the fuse box and to the right of the emergency tire kit. All Camaros (and a whole bunch of other GM vehicles) have this CCM, but only those with Magride have the Magride module on the left side of the trunk floor.
