Maybe he's talking about leasing it.

It works out
Actually, if you go to an online payment calculator and plug in the numbers he gave, it works out to about the amount he posted. If the car cost exactly $46,000 and he put down $2k, he would pay $662/month for 72 months at 0% interest. So if he is paying $638/month, he probably rounded up to $46,000 but it is actually a little less.

Ahh, you are right. I did misread the post. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I will join you guys in wondering how he has such a cheap payment for that amount.

I'm thinking about putting down $12-15k for the 2SS convertible I want to get, and I'm expecting a $500 or so car payment.

Yep, but the OP mentioned he put $2k down on $46k, which sounds like the up front on a lease too.

Lease or Buy
Leasing can be great because your payments are lower and normally there is no down payment required. However, you're only renting the car. Insurance is much higher as required by the financial institution and yearly allowed mileage is from 10k to 15k a year. As with the other replies you got on this thread go on-line and read up on the differences. Overall leasing is about 20% of the market.

"rather have you in here every 2 years VS 4-6"... I thanked him for his honesty lol.. I rather OWN the car, and sell it when I'm done. |
