How much faster is the A10 over the M6 in the 1/4 mile?

I notice all the open mod 1/4 mile times for the ZL1 are held by automatics. Just curious, in the hands of a capable driver, how much slower is the M6?

The A10 is .2 to .3 quicker, depending. What power are you making and what times have you run?

This is a tough one to answer considering how much easier it is to 60 foot an A10. I think generally speaking .2 - .3 sounds good.

I would say it’s closer .5 because the a10 not only launches better but helps to keep the engine in on the powerband . My buddy has the same mods as me , same weight reduction . We dynoed the same and he’s 3-4 tenths slower then me in the 1/8 mile and 5 mphs slower .
Amd he’s a good driver .

i agree with this. in the hands of a capable driver, a difference of 2 mph at most.

This will be amplified the more a car is modified and the higher it traps. If you ever look at 1/2 mile traps of modified ZL1’s there is a 10 MPH+ difference at ~900 RWHP.

Might be the tune in his car, 4 tenths slower in the 1/8 is A LOT with same weight and same power in the same basic car. The M6 has a built-in bog in the ECM, and seems most tuners do not either know how to fix it or bother to do so. See tuning section about M6 bog for more, I posted a link to a pertinent discussion from HPT forum in there. I have watched an M6 on Mickeys launch, and I saw the car cut power in 1st gear, best run 11.3@124. Also talked to a guy with an M6 ZL1 on Mickeys, 800+rwhp, thing went 11.0@135, so very obviously the early-track numbers were way off what they should have been. You can see that with more hp, the problem is more drastic.

Obviously, this means that a 'capable driver' can only do so much when the computer has this problem, because the driver does not truly have control of the car. Yes he/she can launch at 4000rpm while stock, and even more rpm when tuned, but after clutch engages, the computer gets mad and pulls power out.

Hero run vs Hero run might be .3 and 2 mph but compare the average time for both and it will be .5 second difference.

Reason being M6 is difficult to run consistently compared to A8

Run on sentences I know
