1le camaro suspension upgrade
Started to do ax and and curious if anyone with the ss/1le have done any upgrades on their suspension and what they went with. Everything I keep finding is for the normal ss to get it like the 1le. I will be doing a mix of ax and drag. My last event the car would take a sec to turn like it was abrupt and then would yank.

The only thing you need to complete the SS 1LE is solid rear cradle bushings and a track alignment. Leave everything else alone, GM nailed the set-up on it.

For autocross competition the key to answering your question is what class you plan to run, and what mods they allow. If you're in SCCA classing, then stock your car goes to B Street. That allows you to change one sway bar, and most people swap for a stiffer and/or adjustable front bar to tame the slight power-on oversteer the car can have with full-bore alignment and all nannies off. I went with the BMR front adjustable bar because at its softest setting it's very close to stock, which seems like desirably option to have.
If you want to start modding for real, then consider CAM-C. I have a list of mods I'd do there (to remind myself why I don't want to go to that class!), and I'm happy to share if you want. My advice to someone just starting out is to compete for a season and use that time to gain skills and also to assess what class you really want to choose, and then plan your mods accordingly.

Or you could do like me and run whatever mods you like in an entirely uncompetitive class. I was never going to win a national championship, so I'm really doing it to have fun and get better against myself.
I found the suspension to be good enough at handling body movements that I didn't have a desire to mod it yet. I put in a skip shift eliminator, BMR cradle lockouts, and braided lines, all of which take me out of B Street. The OE Supercar 3 tires are great at coming up to temp quick, too. Edit: there's supposedly an E-LSD calibration update you can have flashed at your local dealer to have the diff lock and unlock more quickly at low speeds. Looking forward to having it flashed and trying the new calibration. I have found some one wheel peel situations early in the day. Last edited by cmfhsu; 06-17-2020 at 06:29 AM. |

Just a quick clarification: I don't think the skip-shift eliminator alone takes you out of Street classes.

Does a CAI move you out of B Street?
