Charity dyno day with electric cutout!

Had the pleasure of going down into Pittsburgh today for a charity dyno with 6 Star Performance and their Mustang dyno. For $60 you get 3 runs and all proceeds go to raise awareness for Huntington's disease so why the heck not and see what the mods to the car have done. Current go fast parts include a ZZP catless dp, ZZP throttle body, a cold air intake, and of course the electric cutout.

We picked the best 2 runs to display on the dyno sheet. Runs 1 and 2 were the best. The first run was with the cutout closed, second run was with it open. Cutout closed gave me 311 torque and 254 hp. Here with the cutout open I lost 3 hp and 3 torque, plus it took an extra 200 rpm to start building torque. Oh well, it still sounds cool. lol

With stock intercooler, you maybe be experiencing heatsoak after each run resulting in slightly lower numbers each time. Good numbers, about where I was with those type mods

Explains his 3rd run not being good. When i go to the dragstrip provided I'm not sitting in staging to long for inept idiots with broken cars i can get 3 runs in on a 60 degree day 1st and 2nd are fine but 3rd run heatsoak kills the performance on stock intercooler.

This morning I checked my email and there was a message from onstar saying the stabilitrak was going nuts. Wonder if that skewed the numbers at all.

Probably still a good idea to turn it off before you start your runs - can't say I'm absolutely certain of the impact on a dyno, but when stabilitrak kicks on when you're driving, it completely cuts your power.

RE: heat soak, I had the same experience when I got my car dyno'd (first tune before I replaced it, stock intercooler + hot & cold pipes) - numbers were nose diving after 2-3 runs.

Stabilitrak will always go off on a dyno your cars ecm will read those high speeds but no movement on your front wheels. You should typically always disable both Stabilitrak and Traction Control anyway before starti g a pull for maximum power output. Especially with A8s as those things on will cut power untuned and under certain circumstances otherwise.

I mounted it right after the downpipe. Its hard to find a straight piece of pipe to hack into on this thing. I've also seen pics of people mounting it between the drivers and passengers seats under the center console after the transmission.

Great information!
I would think if the exhaust was any kind of restriction behind the downpipe, you would have at least broke even on a second run VS first run. Nice control test!
