FRAM...You are kidding yourself...

for real. does anyone buy into this crap? a filter that size isn't going to fully filter oil up to 20,000 miles.

Even in my daily (2003 corolla) I wouldn't run more than MAYBE 7.5k miles.

The disclaimer says it all... lol. Fram is basically saying "If your engine manufacturer says you can wait 20k miles to change your oil/filter then buy this expensive filter. If not, you can still buy this expensive filter but change it about 15k miles less b/c that is what your owner's manual says."

It's very misleading to the normal consumer who doesn't know much about cars. They see 3 inch Kevin Harvick on TV talking about some fancy oil that lasts longer than the dinosaur bones it's made of and this filter advertisement then assumes their 2002 Hyundai Sonata with 250k miles can really go 20k more miles with the same oil and filter... Granted it's a Hyundai so it probably would go another 45k if you just keep topping it off... anyways back to the point. Crappy misleading advertisement to misinformed consumers who end up hurting their vehicles in the long run due to those tactics.

to add, I'm a Service Advisor at a dealership and you wouldn't believe the type of sh*t people come up with about what is and isn't good for their cars.

With all the snake oil type solutions that walk through the door here, its really amazing how some cars are still even functioning.

Amsoil makes 25k mi or 1yr between oil changes and filter. However they state to change filter between oil changes. Fram filters are no different than the rest. They all do the same shit.

I like all the extended life oils and filters everyone makes. I've made quite a few dollars off of them, when the customer comes in for a new engine.

That brand had a recall a while ago, they were collapsing and messing up engines. I believe the only one that sells this oil filter brand is Walmart, I don't think that the auto parts store even sells them.

Not all filters are equal. You need to look at the filter material, the total filtering area (square inches), and what size particle it will filter.

Most companies post this info on their web sites.

Personally I like Amsoil, Wix, & Purolator.

I use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-30. The difference for me is that I STILL change my oil at no more than 5k miles.

You would have to be a fool to try and get the full 15k miles out of it - Unfortunately, there are plenty of fools around.

Worse now, Mobil 1 makes an ANNUAL oil, supposedly good for 20k miles/1 year.
