2010 camaro ss theft recovery build

first off if this is in the wrong spot let me know.
bought a 2010 camaro ss theft recovery. had no engine, trans, or engine wiring harness and computer. installed a 2010 ls3 engine, a 6l80 trans from a 2009 pontiac g6. [tcm is being sent off to be program to the 2010 operating system]. bought a 2010 camaro engine harness from lkq and also a ecm.
problem is when i try to turn the engine over by the ignition switch all the dash lights go out and nothing happens, until i release the switch then all the lights come back on and gauges sweep once. anyone got any ideas on the problem.

I have not rebuilt a theft recovery yet but have one currently that I have been accessing and getting the electronics hooked back up.

Was your ignition switch damaged?

Are the keys the original ones?

Was the ecm programmed with the cars vin number?

Wish I could be of more help, let us know if you have solved it, I would be interested to hear what it was

i hope that was a UNBELIEVABLE DEAL!!! thats alot of work to get road worthy again most guys would use that as a drag car. the transponder has to be programed i'm not sure how you do that the way it is. i assume the dealer can reprogram that computer to that vin and key transponder.GLW-rebuild

ignition wasnt damaged.
the key will lock and unlock the doors and turn the ignition switch on. so im thinking it is the original one.
bought hp tuners to program the ecm.

i paid 1500.00 for the car with 82000 miles on it.
the interior is in perfect condition.
body is in excellent condition with only a ding or two in it.

Wow thats a great deal! Definitely worth rebuilding.

The theft recovery I bought has the wire that go to the shifter cut, so xc_SS/RS might be on to something.

Did you get a parts car for the rebuild or buy the parts separately?

prolly something to do with the ecm,the 5th gen kinda starts itself you just bump the key and it takes it from there.just guessing check the ignition wire at the starter.if you turn the key on and jump it at the starter and it runs i would start there.
i think the bcm works the door locks but i'm thinking the transponder tells the ecm it's okay to start the car. my point is the fob can open the doors while the transponder is not communicating like it needs to,crazy i know but just because it opens the doors and turns the ignition don't mean it will start he car.......new cars are overly complicated!!
obviously you can still steal them lol.

i agree lemontwist, the transponder want open the door locks or the trunk tried that.
so it may be in the transponder, looks as if someone tried opening the transponder case because the key just flops back and forth.

yellows10, i had a engine on the stand. everything else i am having to buy is new or used. do you remember where they cut the wire at on yours.

xc_SS/RS, that will be another place to start looking. when i picked up the car the inside was as clean and nothing was torn apart or disassembled.

i am gathering all of the input from yall i can so when i get the tcm back and installed, i can hopefully get it running.

The gauges going blank and then coming back on after releasing the key is what my car does if I forget to push the clutch in.

If the ecm was from a Camaro SS and it had an LS3 then it had a manual transmission behind it so it’s likely the neutral safety switch holding you up OP

there is a a programing procedure you can program up to like 8 keys maybe 4 but i got some new fobs off feebay and was able to program them.first make sure you fob battery is good.i have 4 keys programed to my car.
you will need a key that works as far as the security light going out you don't need to start the car to do it.

this ebay listing is where i got my keys and in the description they also have the programing procedure listed.

i do believe the ecm was from a 2010 ls3 car. so that would be in the ecm as clutch interlock, or something like that. sent the tcm to a company in arizona i cant recall the name. he called today and someone wiped the os from the tcm, that is the reason it wouldn't communicate with the ecm.
