Will unmounting/remounting damage my tires?

2018 SS.

I'm going to need to switch to all-season tires because I'm hearing the grip of the stock summer-only run flats is greatly diminished in cold weather. I've only got slightly over 5,000 miles on the stock tires, and I just can't swing buying 4 more wheels to use the all-seasons on.

I'd like to switch back to the stock tires when the lows get above 40. Will my stock tires stay undamaged from the unmount/remount process?

If the shop knows what they are doing you will be just fine. Tires can be mounted and un-mounted as much as needed as long as the bead area of the tire is not damaged.

You may want to do a bit of research on tire storage too. Storing the tires won't destroy them or anything crazy like that but there are better and worse ways to store tires.

Just use tire shop that has somewhat modern equipment ie touchless tire removal.. or else prepare for wheel damage.

We unmount and remount tires all the time. As long as the shop knows what they are doing you will be just fine.

Many thanks for all your answers. I'm relieved to hear good news.

Going to store the summer tires in the "junk room" of the house.
