The M6 is very easy to drive, including in heavy traffic. I swore I would never purchase another vehicle equipped with a manual transmission after owning a 2001 Corvette (it made unrefined driveline noises under all conditions), but the manual transmission in the sixth-generation Camaro is very refined!

P.S.-You should purchase a 2019 1LE just to anger all the haters of the redesign!

I've owned dozens of cars with manual trannies, and this is one of the best. As for clutch engagement "problems," I've never had any. The clutch on every car is different, and you just ned a short time to get used to it.

Oh, just so you know: After your test drive, you'll be buying the car.

Interesting. In my 2007 Corvette, Chevy must have fixed the tranny. I was the one making the unrefined noises...

the M6 is easy to drive bought it in my 18 to avoid the shudder issue and well they'll be a thing of the past soon.
But if 10speed auto was available I would choose that!

I agree this 2019 1LE looks great especially in this color. Big improvement over the 16-18 styling.

Considering trading my 16 2SS for a 19 2SS 1LE

Another thread about to turn into a styling pissing competition.

OP never asked for opinions on looks. He asked about adjustment to driving stick.

I bought my first MT car in the summer of 2008. My Mom drove it home because I didn’t know how to drive stick but she somewhat did. My brother taught me over the course of 2 weeks. There was still a lot of learning left to be done but I got the hang of it after getting on the road. I haven’t looked at owning an automatic since. 7 cars since (5th Gen Camaro, FR-S, G37s, 335i, GTI, s2000 and 6th Gen Camaro) and all MT.

If you’re willing to learn and don’t mind not being Jimmy Johnson right out the gate and can handle the fact that no matter how good you get at it, the auto will likely be faster in the hands of 95% of the population you’ll be fine. IMO, nothing beats the engagement that exists with a MT.

Yup, anything to get away from the A8 gets my vote. Get the 19 1LE with the manual. Yes it's slower but so much more fun to drive and shift your own gears. Unless you are drag racing all the time manuals are the way to go. Less maintenance, you can so easily change the fluid. Look up changing it in the automatic.......

And I get way better gas mileage driving a manual than an automatic.

The M6 in the SS is real easy. So much torque in v8.

I hate to say it but all the bad I hear about th A8 kept me from even considering trading my duramax in for a 18' Max Tow 6.2 Silverado. I probably could have swapped even.

Tht said a friend has an A8 in his 16' ZO6 Corvette and loves it- lightning quick shifts... No issues. There are a lot of A8 that work fine. Sorry for the thread jack....

The 19' 1LE looks GREAT.....

Nothing beats the sound of downshifting in track mode with rev match turned on. I agree with the weird feeling of the clutch though. Seems to have a very small engagement point and a lot of travel to get to that point with some inconsistent resistance to and from it.
There was a variable rate clutch assist spring on the 2011-2014 mustangs you could remove or replace with a steeda one that made the clutch feel consistent resistance all the way up and down that resolved a similar issue for Mustangs. The variable rate spring was used to help reduce clutch leg fatigue for the general population. I wonder if there is anything like that for the Camaro?!?

The current year Mustang also comes with that assist spring. A lot of guys remove it immediately for the reason you mentioned. Takes like 1 min to remove (squeeze and turn). Don't know if the Camaro has one similar.
