1SS non 1Le on a road corse

On the street a non 1LE 1SS handles very well. How does it do on a road course? It seems like only 1LE’s are used.

hmm weird ive seen alot of 1ss and 2ss on the road course they do need some upgrades to keep up with the 1le guys but they work just fine

bigger wheels/tires and brakes and some suspension is all that is needed

just sucks since we will never have the elsd or ptm modes but oh well

Since I never had those things I don't miss them at all.

Fully agree though, takes a few upgrades but a regular SS does well on a track. I've gone a bit overboard on my 2SS, built it into a track only almost race car.

There's a similar question in the Ask the Camaro Team section about that.

Around their course the 2SS 1LE was around 8.5s a lap faster than a normal 1SS and that gap went down to about 2s with the Lowering Kit, Handling Kit, and the 1LE tires.

I think the non 1LE suspension is really not up to the track driving task, it's way too soft.

For most handling will not be the biggest issue on a road course. Brakes is where you want to upgrade first.

I tracked my 2SS last year with basically stock suspension and brakes. Just swapped out for track pads and SRF fluid. Worked great no issues.

Get some track days under your belt then you will have a better idea what you feel needs to be upgraded.

Not exactly. Gen 6 SS is faster on track than Gen 5 SS 1LE... in as delievered form that is. While not sprung as stiff as Gen 6 SS 1LE the SS is still a very capable track car with necessary cooling. Unlike most frod "track capable" products.

How I look at it is. If you know you want to "build" your car. Buy a 1ss.. If you just want to get in and drive... buy a 1le.
