No "Launch Control" on Competitive Mode (scratching head)

Hey guys, I've looked for a few hours on here-and got side tracked reading many many posts btw, but I can't find any info on my question of-Does Competitive Mode not include Launch Control on some 1SS models?

I hit my traction control button twice and "esc/Competitive Mode" reads on my screen, but I can't get it to "launch". I also only have 9 of 9 pages for the performance screen. I don't have the "Disabled" Launch Control screen.

My car is a manual so I put it in track mode and hit t/c button twice for c/m and I have my car in first gear and the clutch all the way down, but when I slam on the gas it just revs towards 6k and does not stabilize to "set up" a launch.

Just curious if my car needs a flash from the dealer or does my car/vin/model not have any launch control capabilities?

Thanks

Does engine speed stabilize at ~4000 - 4500 rpm? Accelerator pedal to 100%?

NO it goes towards 6.5K and I let up because I don't want to redline it.

Does line lock come on certain models whether auto or manual? Or just the 2SS?

Nah, I don't think there's anything like that. I've never used it personally. But it may adjust the RPM based on temp and junk like that.

If you abruptly floor it under those conditions, it should work. It would overshoot the ~4k rpm target and then come back down. I wonder if you're not allowing it enough time to settle or not flooring it abruptly enough? It's standard on all SS cars, it's not an option and as long as you are in competition mode it should work.

Line lock was on the auto SS only, not the manual SS. 1SS/2SS wouldn't matter.

Thank you sir for this. I may have been a little paranoid on over revving it so you're probably right, I wasn't giving it time to stabilize. I'll let you know tomorrow-unless I kill it, then I'll be heading to mexico. arriba arriba..

be sure to firmly press the brake before you rev the car up.

You need to make sure you have the clutched pushed all of the way to the floor while in 1st gear and then mash the skinny pedal to the floor as well. It will rev up to around 5k then level off around 4300-4500. I actually tried it for the first time the other day just to see if it worked. It did.

In my 2018 1SS 1LE it seems super finicky, enough to make me question it like you are. It requires the steering wheel to be straight and the clutch pedal to be on the floor. It seems like the wheel has to be PERFECTLY straight and you have to be trying to push the clutch through the floor. When it does engage, you can tell right away. It also seems like the ground has to be perfectly level. I tried it on a road that had a very slight crown and couldn't get it to engage. The engine revs faster than the RPM gauge sweeps so there is a huge difference in the sound/feel when you mash the gas pedal between when Launch Control is activated and when its not.

Thanks guys, I got it to work. The wife was in the car when I tried it. She's not big on the power-scares her, but she enjoyed the ride. It was a good launch with not much wheel spin so I'll have to try it again with the 0-60 timer. It is LOUD holding at 4300k rpms in track mode. But impressive with the technology from Chevy for that type of launch with a manual.

FWIW seems like magazines got quicker launches without launch control anyway - 2k RPM in the SS 1LE.
