And my OE battery in my Camaro - in CA, lasted two!
I just changed mine this week it was still good but I figured I was on borrowed time so I got a Motomaster AGM Battery 24months free replacement 84 months prorated.

It survived 10 winters

Also still have the original Delco battery in my 2011 2SS. Not sure what I'll do when I need to replace. Might go back to a Delco or maybe a First Interstate from COSTCO which is a block from my house.

“Hibernating” in the winter as well but, keep it on a tender year round.

Pulled my factory original in May after it started throwing some strange codes. Dropped in another Delco.

If all you do is drive to car shows down the block, I suppose you could keep a battery until it lets you down, and then rely on the kindness of strangers to rescue you.

But 10 years is ridiculous, particularly of you actually use your car for transportation.

Under the best circumstances, I wouldn't keep a battery more than 7 years on a commuter car, or more than 5 years on a grocery getter that makes many short trips.

Whether it still starts the car or not.

Batteries are not expensive. And there's nothing wrong with the OEM AC Delco battery.

I know Optima used to be king in durability and price...$200 for a battery ouch. But since being sold their reliability has gone way down. All the others like Walmart, AutoZone and Western are made by the same companies. When I need one I am going to go with the "new" Diehard and see how that goes......

I used to run optima in my truck, rock crawler and boat until the company I work for sold their share. We got a %50 discount on them so it was worth it. Not so much after the discount was gone.

Changed my factory battery yesterday, 11 years and 2 months after it was installed in Oshawa......it still started the car, but seemed to be cranking slower. It was a 720 CCA battery and tested at 500....figured it had served me well, but wanted to be proactive. Put in a Diehard Platinum with 850 CCA.
