Daily street tires?
Hello guys,
Sorry if this doesn’t belong here. Couldn’t find where else to put it? So I had to get my two rear tires plugged due to a nail in each. I’ve just purchased a drag set for the rear to use at the track. I also don’t wanna spend another $650 on tires for the rear. But I do want to drive my car spirited here and there, because … that’s why I got it lol My question is, are there any pair of rear tires that are relatively cheap that have ok traction, I can use as daily’s to drive spirited here and there? Thanks, Falcao |

I'm assuming the stock LT1 wheels?
General G-MAX RS. $165/ea.

Looks like you're stuck with $600+ to replace them. Cheapest summer tires would be the Yokohama Advan Apex v601 at $325/ea. Tirerack is selling some 2017 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 for <$300/ea if you want to try that.

The 1LE set-up does seem to preclude you from having cheap tires. If you still have the old LT1 rims, you can pop the cheap GMAX-RS on for street use and keep the 1LE rims for track days?

The tire in the photo looks to me like it is nearly shot. I would drive it very carefully in the rain.

I have the Falken Azenis FK510 295/35/20 for the rears. Above stock power level I don't think they'd be too great, but being stock for now they're actually really good. Also really good if you ever got caught in the rain, I was able to keep my cruise control on 75ish with no issues when I got caught in 4 hours of rain. They'd run you about $500 for the rear.
