Non-RS Aftermarket Headlight Upgrade

Has anyone tried installing any aftermarket headlights to a non-RS 6th gen? Wondering how difficult it is to wire the LED bar underneath and if it can be tied into the factory vertical DRL's somehow?

While you didn’t put them in the original post the Morimoto units come with a harness to adapt to halogen equipped cars. I’m unsure if either of your options presented will.

I have been considering the Morimoto as well as just OEM factory RS/SS headlights. Do you plan on selling your OEM headlights by any chance?

If you are going to put money into upgrading the headlights going to the OEM ones is a step in the right direction but you can still get better light output with a lot of the high quality LED offerings. If you going for looks then take you preference! I personally like the look of the Morimoto the best with their DRL being a switchback turn signal and the quad fixtures. Going OEM also requires an aftermarket relay harness such as the Gen 5 DIY one. I do have my lights but I plan to keep them for the foreseeable future.

Sure thing! If you decide to go the Morimoto route there is a known issue with the DRL not matching the brightness of the bumper DRL's during the day. In a thread on those lights I helped another forum member with a fix I came up with myself.

I see, so they we're dim when they shouldn't have been but you've corrected that? And do they now dim at night with the DRL's?

Correct, with my harness they function exactly the same as OEM. I posted a how to in the DIY section of the forum if you decide to go this route.
