Audio system volume issues
Occasionally when I'm playing music via Android auto, when I first plug my phone in, the system volume is significantly lower than it should be. Usually, unplugging the phone, waiting several seconds, then plugging it back in solves the problem, and I notice a substantial increase in the audio volume.
Occasionally, it does this on regular radio as well- I will be listening and not notice that the volume is low, then the system corrects itself and the volume increases noticeably without my touching the volume controls. I tried disabling the automatic volume feature in the system settings (forget what this is called exactly) and still it did not fix the issue. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, is there a fix? |

I'm pretty sure this is just because bluetooth connects first. With bluetooth, you can still control volume on your phone as well as your car too. But once android auto connects, your phone sends full volume always, so your only volume is through the car. Mine works similarly on Apple Carplay.

My bad. I know on mine, Carplay doesn't always start on the first try, I usually have to unplug it and replug it to get it to connect. once the icon changes from projection to carplay, I get full volume. Wish I could be more help. Let us know if you figure anything out!

You could try disconnecting the battery overnight.
Alternatively you could ask the dealer to update the firmware to the latest version for your model year (HMI unit and Infotainment system).

I might try that with the battery. I just received the most recent infotainment update.

I would try disabling Bluetooth just to see if that has any effect.
I have an android app called rocker locker which causes the volume rocker on the phone to always affect the volume of playing media. That may work for you so you don't have to unplug and replug the phone. You would still have to adjust the volume on the phone. |

I downloaded the Rocker Locker app, so we'll see if that works. Thanks! |

Various volume control apps did not work. Does anyone have any other ideas on this?

When my phone connects to my car via bluetooth, the volume is always low. I have to turn the volume up on my phone before it will be, what I think is normal. the phone backs the volume down thinking I am using earbuds, makes me say yes, I understand listening to loud music is hard on my hearing, blah, blah...
Anyway check that on your phone. |

My 2021 with the latest software updated by the dealer does this. At first I thought the Amp from the technology package was not activating but then this made more sense. Sometimes when the map first tells me something, then the music will return to normal loudness. Very frustrating

Happened to me too... found out that it was Waze because the sound wouldn't come back until I got a Waze alert which is forever because I don't have many or the alerts on. I long pressed the app, cleared cache, cleared storage, and uninstalled. Reinstalled the app and the issue has been gone since. Must have been something I did in the settings once not sure...I may have also gone through the same steps with the Android Auto app for good measure but I can't remember.
