Car wouldn't start

Wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this.

Went shopping with my wife. When returning to the car my wife went to the trunk (had key fob #2 in her purse), and pushed the trunk button. At the same time i went to the driver's door and pushed the silver button to unlock the door.

The car started honking (not just 3 times).

I pushed the unlock button on the remote to stop the honking.

When we got in the car it would not start.

The DIC said "No remote detected", but both remotes were in the car. It said to put them in the cup holder. Still nothing.

Called road side assistance, pretty much useless. Said the battery might be dead, which it was not. Said we had to reprogram the remotes. He had me take the cap off the door and use the key. he also said to move one remote at least 25 feet from the car. I used the key and turned 5 times as he told me. It did not reprogram the but when I pushed the start button it started.

When we drove the Air Conditioning was not working and the DIC kept telling me that there was no remote.

When we got home I was going to try to reprogram the remotes. I went into the house and then back to the car.

Much to my surprise everything worked, including the AC.

Not sure what happened.

Anyone else have similar problem?

With the car off, check the voltage of the battery. Anything less than 12.0 is a problem for the electronics of the car. You can get it done at any auto parts store

I had something like this happen. In my case it set off the theft detection, when I called Onstar they told me I'd have to have it towed to dealer and reprogrammed. That was NOT happening, so I waited about ten minutes, hit the unlock on fob #1, and everything was fine again.

I think you are correct that it may have set off the theft detection, given the horn sounding. They told me that it would a have to be towed as well, and that was not happening.

It was not voltage as it was at 14 volts.

After I got home and went over 25 feet from the vehicle with both fobs, then returned it all worked.

Really strange and road side assistance was useless, I can read the manual too.

14 V is running , not resting. You are reading the charging system , not the battery when the engine is running.Voltage with the car completely off

It was the use of the fobs at the same time, not voltage. Don't think it would have started with the fob if it were voltage

Just another sign that today's technology is more a pain in the you know what, then convenient.

Did the AC start back working on it’s own or it started back working eventually after you started the vehicle again? My battery went dead and it’s currently not working after I jumped the car off
