Imagine if you bought a '69 COPO ZL1 and parked it. Probably around $1MM if it had all the provenance and was a survivor not a resto.

The difference, you actually have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than making it rich off of a motor vehicle, especially in 2021 - let alone 1969. EDIT: and if you bought a COPO ZL1 in 1969 you were not "hurting" to start with and even back then you were better off investing in better things.

There were a few statements earlier in this thread about 'why would you sell your Camaro for a 2K profit?' i.e. someone paid 38K and will be selling for 40K.
In reality that person is getting MORE than a 2K profit. You aren't taking depreciation into account. That 38K Camaro would probably be worth 35K in 'normal' times. So I can't blame anyone for 'only' taking a supposed 2K profit. I dunno how many of you are strictly Camaro enthusiasts, but there are a large amount of great sports/performance cars out there right now. There's the Supra, the upcoming 400Z, Mustang, Challenger, C8 Corvette, Civic Type R, CT4 and CT5 V cars, etc. We're in a golden age right now and most of these cars should be around for a few more years. So I wouldn't sweat selling a Camaro for a decent profit. As long as you aren't married to the Camaro itself you have a huge choice of performance cars in the general price range. |

So you would have to wait for at least one summer for the price to come down to score a deal after you sell your car. As for the profit point, I see what you are saying, but again, you either have to get into the market right after you take advantage of it, or you just have to be that patient and miss out a fun summer.

Ride it hard, put it away wet. Let the next guy figure out why you loved putting so many miles on it.
The waxer crowd is interesting - they see cars are more like art than a mechanical device.

I went to Petersen Automotive Museum when I was travelling in Cali. Many cars to see there, and the admission isn't that expensive considering what you can see. A museum will not let me drive their cars, however.
