A nice touch for a zl1 with carbon hood insert and carbon wing.

I got tired of the taped on CF covers there good quality but they don't fit snug enough. I have to admit this is a long and tedious process especially if ya don't have sanders in 3 inch and 5 inches. Cost of materials and sanders you could easily spend 300.00 depending on quality of tools. This probably took 20 hours of work so be prepared if you want to tackle it. However I'm for hire lol!

Material list:

$20 Black or tinted epoxy/resin (especially if you don't have a grey or black mirror)
$80 A couple of yards of 2 x 2 twill 240g to 300g (I think 200 is to thin that great for flat surface but trying to shape it its to fragile)
$35 Resin (took about 150 grams on 1st coat, then 60 grams on the next 3) 16oz will be close
$5 to $20 4 or 5 Good quality brushes that don't leave hairs even foam brushes work
$5 masking tape
$35 Heat gun
$30 dremel small round sanding disc (for lip of mirrors where it folds.
$80 3 inch air grinder 120 pad (I used this over the dremel cutting the extra length off where it mates to car
$35 5 inch electric polisher sander 240 to 800 grit
$25 2k UV clear coat with the hardener that you puncher in bottom of can

Do not use the 3M 77 adhesive it's perfect for some flat parts you want to skin but i found that on contours the resin gets it wet and it will lift the carbon causing a high spot. When you go to sand you will burn right through the carbon.

I'll try to get them on by the end of the weekend and update!

Just watch lethal garage video on removing the door panels. I bought LH and RH on ebay gloss black for the wifes car for christmass they were 150 ea new painted. That's probably what you will pay getting them painted unless you have a buddy. I did it this way so I wouldn't be down.
