The key of course is to check the torque without adding any additional rotation to the TTY bolt since it is usually one time use and has already been stretched/deformed.

I'd assume you could set your torque wrench to a value a few pounds less than the factory target for that TTY bolt/nut. If you start applying torque and hit your tool setting target before the nut/bolt rotates, you know the actual torque on the TTY nut/bolt is higher and must be at or above factory target. Conversely, if the bolt rotates some more before you hit the torque target, the bolt was under-torqued. Only now will you need a new TTY bolt (to properly torque), but I guess that's OK since presumably an under torqued bolt is unacceptable.

Once upon a time. The last year they made the prior gen I had ordered a 2002 Trans Am WS6 that ended up being built (per build sheet) on 9/11/2001 at the same time all the crap was going on in NYC. I recall the day we ordered it, the salesman, Charlie a good friend at the time said you want me to flag it for quality control? I asked, you can do that? He said, sure and typed something into the workbench. Thought no more about it till 2 months later when the car arrived and I showed up to look at it. He said, you got to see this, its nothing we have seen before. So we go to their detail shop and the car is sitting there with what looked like a 100+- 'OK" stickers on the windshield and even the back window. I took some pics of that but sadly I lost track of them when a hard drive crashed and burned. In 4 yrs, never a single problem.

I ended up trading the car away in 2006 because of a shoulder injury I could not shift the 6sp anymore, too painful. Bought a Cadillac CTS AWD.

Just got word that my 2022 LT1 is in quality control. It was built 5/19. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones? (And I don't mean that sarcastically. Extra QC is a HUGE plus).

It could have been pulled for a complete QC or it could have gone to QC because they found an issue during assembly and tagged it to go to QC for repair. Either is a possibility.

GM is in the business of building and shipping cars. You cannot inspect quality into the process. So every 5th car? Doubt it very much. 2 weeks of inspection? Never heard of that . Doesn’t mean LGR doesn’t have quality issues that require this but it’s an effed up process at a Cadillac plant if they are.

My sales rep said that "it's mostly for checking the paint" but he didn't have any other details. Who knows, maybe the front bumper paint was atrociously mismatched even more so than normal

The wait is killing me. Now three months from my order date and the car hasn't been shipped yet. I know this is nothing compared to the wait times others have dealt with, but my order was accepted by GM 2 days after it was submitted, and it's now almost one month since the car was built, so
