Hello and to the forums. Hope the repair was thorough and your car is now back on the road.

You may want to add your Camaro to this poll about oil pump failures: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532479

Quick question, you said your car was a 2017, but you have the new 2019+ taillights, did you add them yourself?

Aww crap, I forgot about that, good point. Would someone actually have gone to the trouble of changing out the beautiful 2017 backend for this monstrosity ?

I think this is a 2019+ and he meant that the oil pump itself was manufactured in 2017, but we'll see when he chimes back in.

It would be nice if it was 19my, but it's 17my ^^;

Unfortunately friend, this is a known issue with 17my, the good news is that the replacement pump has been revised many times and has worked without issue for a vast majority of new my zl1's. I have a 17my as well but I guess I'm lucky because I have 35,000 miles on mine with no pump issues at all. Sorry this happened to you but welcome to the forum, people on here are very informative, knowledgeable, and helpful for the most part

Controversial question for sure. Many prefer the new rear end. I prefer the new tail lights but the old bumper. Oh well.

Yeah, I know, I was just making friendly banter, that's all

(First time I ever see someone change even the bumper to fit OEM 2019+ taillights instead of just going with aftermarket units. This is dedication right there.)
