Instead of changing the lights and bumper cover, why not just get an aftermarket set of taillights that resembles the 16-18 and are direct drop in (if that exists) for the 19+? Then you don't have to go through the hassle of changing the bumper cover.

The bumper cover is different between the 17/18 vs the 19+. If you look at one of the left or right lights on the 19+ there is a small part of the bumper cover that fills the small area between lenses. The entire top of the bumper is different to suit the 19+ tail lights.

You misunderstood him, he said to get aftermarket 19+ lights that fit, but look like the 2016-2018 ones.

The refresh tail lights aren't too bad IMO, but the rear bumper muffin top makes me want to gag. I wouldn't be able to live with a refreshed rear end, I hope the de-fresh is successful!

I don’t like them either
Ruins the rear of the car
Lights should be flush with the car and not stick out

I like the new ZL1 taillights just fine. Better than the older style.

They are ok. But I hate washing them... My God, why they need to stick out that much... It's hard to get in there

I am aware of the fact that I would have to swap the rear bumper too, obviously, as it's also completely different. The thing is that I have yet to see one do it. I have searched everywhere on the internet and have found nothing. The cars have been out now for a good while and I have yet to see anyone try it. So my question is. Can someone confidently say that I can swap them without running into any issues? I Would hate to upgrade and later find out it's not an option due to fitment or anything. To me it looks like a simple bumper and lights swap but who knows.
I was able to make the taillight swap on my 2021 3LT RS. See my summary DIY forum post for more information.

Thanks! As I note in my DIY post, I think I could have lived with the bug-eyed refresh lights (and I had someone here advocating to keep them and just de-fresh the front). What ultimately convinced me to de-fresh the rear was this ugly, unnecessary "wart" (circled) added to the rear bumper. I hadn't even noticed this on the 2019+ cars until I bought my 2021 (shown here on the day of pickup with my 2016 1LT).

Yeah, the entire front/rear design refresh looks like they gave it to an intern for a quick summer job. The new SS headlights are somewhat acceptable, but other than that, it belongs to the hall of shame section in design textbooks.
