I never liked the Mustang, except for classic muscle cars and only the years 67, 68 and 69. And must have been a Fastback only. Otherse absolute disinterest.

And now...? There are around a million Mustangs, all of course from some "special edition" of which Mustang has so many that it's not even funny anymore.

And I probably wouldn't want a car that people will confuse with a family sedan

I like mustangs and the Coyote is an amazing motor, but mustangs don't grab my heart the way Camaros do. I learned to drive on my father's Mustangs, I know how they perform and feel, the Camaro was more bolted down and I like the interior better, visibility notwithstanding.

I am GM loyal to the core. Never had a non-GM car. I would NEVER own a Ford. MOPAR, maybe.

The next question to ask:

When the ICE Camaro and Challenger are replaced with their EV equivalents, how many new car buyers will opt for them over the still V8 powered GT?

You’re making a bold assumption. Ford has not said they’re keeping the V8. They simply haven’t put a time stamp on it yet. What they did say was that if customers were still demanding them they would keep it around. What they did not say was how many sales constitutes suitable demand. I doubt that they even have defined internally what that number is.

Agreed. But as someone that still enjoys ICE powered vehicles, and would prefer a slower transition via hybrid tech, I still hope that at least one of these cars still offers a more transitional option. gm and Stellantis seem to have put a much more firm standing of a hard/abrupt switch to full EV products, in this segment, while FoMoCo has yet to do so.

Challenger's ICE days seem numbered in CY23. Camaro seems to be following suit and even IF they let it soldier on beyond that, what substantial improvements will be made in that time frame to keep it at the performance pinnacle it holds now? Mustang is always slower to improve vs Camaro, but if Camaro goes stagnant till its EV replacement, will Mustang overtake it in the performance arena? Which is where my question comes back into play.

IF Mustang improves through gen7 while maintaining an ICE drivetrain (likely hybridized), would it's purchase be dismissed as easily as it is today? At least for those not ready to immediately jump to full EV performance.
