Embarrassing clutch question
Let me preface my post by saying I've been driving stick for 33 years. Most of my cars are stick. I was a quality/test engineer for a manual trans manufacturer (New Process Gear). I've raced plenty of sticks, too
I was pulling my '15 1LE back in the garage today. There's a good 1.5-2 inch drop off from the garage floor to the driveway. Pulling into the garage, which is EXTREMELY tight, is always an experience. Trying to climb that transition is no fun. It really wants to stop the car. And I need to do it as gingerly as possible so that I don't go rocketing towards the back of the garage all the while checking both sides of the car so I don't hit the garage frame on one side and another car on the other side. Did I mention it was tight?? Anyways, I rode the clutch just a smidge to get over that transition slowly. No more than a 1.5 seconds and not that high of an RPM (1,500, 2,000?). The clutch really made an odor. I was really QUITE surprised that it smelled from just that little bit. Are the clutches in these cars really that weak? Should I be concerned? Did I do any damage to it?

I smell my clutch every time I launch at the dragstrip or slip it excessively in traffic. No worries.
