Beginner adding sub to Non-Bose

I've never done any audio system work in a car before. I notice that when I listen to music whenever the bass kicks in it lowers the volume of the mid/high frequencies 'cause the smaller speakers are trying to output the bass. Super annoying. I'd like to add a sub for stronger bass and if possible make it so that all the lows are routed to it so the other speakers don't suffer and get drowned out and I can have all my levels consistent.

I was quoted ~$2000 dollars by three shops in the area for parts and labor just to put in the sub and supporting hardware, which in my mind is ridiculous. I'm not finding much online that can help me know how to do it since apparently our platform is different than most/harder to modify.

Is there any write-up style guide on how to diy this? I feel like I can do it myself, I'm just having trouble finding information that doesn't already assume I know everything there is to know about car audio.

Not sure if you have a non-Bose amp in the trunk. Double check, it’s where a spare tire would be. On the left side, should have horizontal fins for non-Bose.

Buy subth ump non-Bose harness a long with ANC delete.

Buy a sub w/box of your choice, sealed or ported. I prefer ported. Check the measurements to make sure it fits through the trunk opening or through the cabin w/rear seats down.

Purchase amp that can handle your sub power (use RMS only).

Purchase a 4AWG amp wiring kit.

The install it simple, as long as you can follow directions.

I did an entire swap of the speakers plus added some. Kept the stock amp and added 2 more. Crystal clear

Found out I have no amp. Does this complicate things? I thought you either had the bose amp or the non-bose amp. Why would my 2016 LT have no amp?

If you just "add a sub", the same problem will exist since the stock speakers will still be getting the full signal. Only way to eliminate the issue you're hearing is to feed a new amp the full signal from your stock radio/amp and use it to filter out lows that go to sub before feeding original speaker from new amp with the just the high pass.

Not exactly hard to do, just a bit more wires to run.

I didn't think the non Bose systems had ANC?
