Guess we got our answer on the 6th gen Z/28.

Refresh reveal come and gone, no Z/28.

On to the 7th gen.

Maybe they want to give the new mid-engine Corvette the spot-light for a while before there is a new Z/28....

Maybe, but I don’t think there is much that can over shadow the mid engine Corvette.

Still lots of time for the Z/28 to come out, last gen the Refresh was in the 5th and 6th year of that gen, with sales so week in the first 3 years of the 6gen GM moved the Refresh up one year, so i am looking for the Z/28 in the last 2 years of the 6th gen.

It's not going to happen. If anything, the sheer performance of the ZL1-1LE destroyed any chance of it being built...

Add in the fact that the 1LE is essentially a Z28 anyways....and there's no point in building one..

The last Z28 was a total failure for Chevy. It only makes sense.

I would argue it wasnt a failure. It was however poorly handled for production numbers...and the cost was a bit over the top...

The last Z/28 was not a failure. The issue with the 5th gen Z/28 is that they simply built too many.

I looked at and entertained the idea of buying one when they were $20k off window sticker brand new in the showroom. I can't call that a success story.

The 5th Gen Z28 was a success as far as performance goes. It kept up with the more powerful ZL1 in a straight line and it beat the ZL1 around a course. Although it sacrificed creature comforts it was a performance monster. The price tho was not worthwhile to a lot of people. Now we have the ZL1 at 650 HP with tons of creature comforts. And the 1LE version is even better around a course while still offering all the comforts. So I'm not sure how GM is going to make a Z28 that will outdo the ZL1 1LE without having the creature comforts and come in at a price that is reasonable. Unless they make it as a GT350 competitor and outperform the GT350 while coming in much cheaper and without markups. It'll have to be better than the SS 1LE of course. And I also don't think it'll be announced just yet so as not to take away from the ZR1. So I do think we will see one. Maybe for 2020. But even if we don't we still have soo many weapons against the competition that it isn't even funny. It's not like we really need it when you think about it. Dodge has no answer for it. The GT350 won't be a threat. It might be more of a waste of money to make it at this point.

The problem I have with a future Z/28 is the 5th gen car. The 5th gen car put the Z/28 name on a pedestal that many know view that the Z/28 is the ultimate in Camaro performance. Many view it as it now has to be the halo model of Camaro. As mentinoned above though, the monster that is the ZLE I personally don't see any way GM tops that with a NA motor.

So where does a Z/28 slot in the Camaro line up then? IMO if they are going to make one the only logical place is to slot it in between SS 1LE and ZL1. Make it the top performing N/A Camaro. They made such a big deal about the car needing to be NA that I just don't see a way they can make it top the ZLE.

We have no idea if there is a Z/28 or not, but they are testing something with a ZL1 1LE body and CCBs. No telling what's under the hood. Using the LT5 would step on the ZR1's heels, but the car could be a stripped-out track monster that fills a completely different niche. Even if that is the case, would they call it a Z/28? (I'd rather call it the ZL1 1LE SD or Super Duty. SD as a homage to the big-block Trans-Ams.)

Then there is the $50,000-$60,000 range with 0 options other than a 2SS 1LE. The SS 1LE is incredible on track and now has even greater cooling abilities. It would be easy and really cool to take any non-essential features out of the 1SS 1LE, add the Hot Cam and heads upgrade, toss on some Eagle F1 3 Rs, give it the full ZL1 1LE hard-mounted DSSV and rollbar setup, and call it the Z/28. The price of a car like that could approach $62,000, but it would be worth every penny to someone who uses the car in performance driving events.

It's all speculation at this point, but there's three years left in the 6th gen Camaro and a few mules making their way around.

I still think one is in the plans.

Didn't expect a new model to come out during the refresh.

What kind of Z do you think they will build?

Halo model style or something inbetween?
