Great! Mine was made in Oct of last year, on the cusp of the bad spring batch. So apparently the fact that I now have 4500 miles and 7 track days doesn't mean I'm out of the woods yet.
At least there's the powertrain warrantee to save me. Guess I'll just be sure to keep tracking it and adding miles so if it's going to break, it does so under the time limit part of the warrantee. |

finally picked my car back up last weekend. The write up said no damage seen on top side of valve train, no broken springs or missing valves- but the intake valve on cyl 6 broken and pushed into head and the piston was totally destroyed, which took out the cylinder wall. Zero count on overrevs.
So that sounds like valve float to me? not an expert. But it sounds like the valve and piston contacted without the spring breaking. |

Could be valve float or a bad valve that broke at the stem. Tech noted that everything looked to be intact from the top side inspection. So the valve head came off due to contact or a stem failure. I assume GM would send off the offending valve and esp the remaining stem for analysis. A great deal can be gained from the fracture point.
