Mounting a tire at home?
Hey guys, I was driving home late last night and got a flat, a nice 2 inch slash. I was only 400 meters away from my house and had run flat tires, so I just took it the rest of the way at 5 mph. Well, now I need to replace the tire. I'm wondering if it is realistic to mount the new tire at home and everything. I don't want to drive the car out on the flat, and I'm willing to learn how to mount it at home if it is possible and reasonable.

Yes and no. Technically you can, if you have the right tools. There are manual tire changers, but with the low profile of the tire, you are almost gauranteed to gouge the crap out of your wheel.
The most logical solution, imo, is to take the wheel and tire off, and take it to your local tire shop. If they are relatively close to you, they will probably come and pick it up st your house for a small fee. |

Possible, yes. Reasonable, no. Look up videos of the Harbor Freight tire install equipment. Those are funny.
