I guess I'm in the 1% group that track it. Buying this 1LE was my re-entering the sports car segment after having been in "mini-van world" for 15+ years.

I'd driven sticks for the first 15 years of owning automobiles. But if you'd asked me just a few years back about what type of trans I would have wanted were I to get back into sports cars, I would have been leaning toward a DSG auto type with paddle shifters that could rev match on down shifts. However, when the time came to choose for my 2021 Camaro, I thought about the potential lack of engagement, AND had some concerns that paddle shifting a 10 speed might be a handful because on the track, you'd be constantly shifting gears so fast it probably would be difficult to keep track of what gear you are in. I was worried it might just devolve into keeping it in automatic mode all the time, which would definitely remove some of the fun IMHO.

So far I'm happy with my choice of going M6. Of course, I haven't had to drive it in bumper to bumper traffic!

Nothing wrong with automagics, its all about your use case and preferences. I understand these new 8 and 10-speeds are very slick machines.

I wanted the M6 as I find the manual keeps me more engaged, but I am totally tracking at some point I will want to move to an automagic.

My 02 is quicker with the auto but the driving experience can’t be beat when you drive a manual in my opinion. Save the manuals.

I like both...and ideally would like to have one of each. But if I can only have one car then A8/A10. You can still put it in manual mode to hold gears and manually shift. While some knock it, it still is kind of fun at times to be able to go back and fourth. Most people knocking the A8/A10 likely have not driven one tuned with most of the torque management tuned out to where it pushes you back into the seat everytime it shifts gears. GM has always left a lot on the table with their trans tuning.

Like with S2Mikey in post #7, having a manual transmission isn't an option here either.

But I'm going to take that one step further - since about 1973 even our family cars have had to be of the MT variety. Even she who is granny to some teens and 20-somethings and still married to me still wouldn't have it any other way.

I've owned a few cars with automatics, and driven them from time to time, and having my car do its gearshifting for me has never appealed to me. At least part of that is because ATs operate "reactively", which does not mesh with the more "predictive" gearshifting philosophy that I've always followed.

Enjoy both. Had a ‘17 SS manual and manual Mustang GT. I’ve found if I do longer drives or mixed driving, manual gets tiring and driving becomes a chore after awhile. Drove 150mi yesterday and the A10 never does that. You lose some of the involvement but not much. The A10 is so good and fast, that I honestly prefer it. Can’t go wrong with either though really.

I will never own an automatic sports car. I don't care how much faster they are, you don't get the same satisfaction and feeling of enjoyment in an automatic as you do in an m6. Its a much more satisfying driving experience and keeps you busy so your not trying to be distracted by the little phone box you carry around with you all day.

M6. Manuals are only 10% of performance car sales. That's 10% of PERFORMANCE cars, not all cars. New C8 doesn't even offer a manual. Dying breed.
Also initial cost is cheaper.
I love the tech and speed of modern automatics, and the A10 seems great. But wanted a manual before they go bye-bye.

I spec'd the 22 A10 for my ZL1, i'm really impressed by what it has to offer for performance but yes I'm a dedicated manual guy and this auto I hope turns out to be what I think it is but I'll miss the stick in some situations, I'm sure.

Well that’s why I didn’t buy one. I wanted a Chiron as a weekend car.
And no, I’m not serious.
