Actually, its when there is enough supply to satisfy the demand. Not that it magically became “less special”.

Ford fans have had one halo option in a sea of heavily discounted and fleet sold Mustang’s. That halo was supplied in very limited numbers. Poof ....”special”

Notice in the 10Best Camaro excepts they never once mentioned it being “fast”.

Chevrolet Camaro V-6 / SS / ZL1 Coupes
...Camaro will demolish your preconceptions, one corner at a time.

...About that chassis. It’s one of the best in the world, with the kind of preternaturally intuitive steering, faultless brakes, and overall balance you’d expect from a Porsche.

...The ZL1 is a supercar that just happens to look like a Camaro.

A reputation is a hard thing to live down. Perception often lags reality, and the reality is this: Camaros are among the most sophisticated driver’s cars in the world. And three consecutive years on the 10Best Cars list proves that this Chevy isn’t just great at attacking a corner, it has also turned one.

The Mustang did a few packages and options to “push it over”. What does that mean about the non PP2 or Bullitt car?
Quote:
Our 10Best Cars list of late has been stable—oops, we meant "a stable." Chevrolet's pony car, the Camaro, booked a stall between 2016 and 2018, while Ford's Mustang paid by the hour,

...We never did stop liking the Mustang's remastered mid-century look and modern performance. The GT's newly available MagneRide electronically adaptive shocks from the GT350, more powerful V-8, and two Performance packages edging it closer to the Shelby's track-worthiness push it over the finish line. The base EcoBoost four-cylinder engine remains unworthy of the rest of the Mustang and our 10Best list.

There are no asterisks needed for the Bullitt edition, Ford's nostalgia-soaked half-gallop between the GT and the Shelby GT350 that shares in the former's award for 2019.

Got this photo in a tweet from Detroit Auto Show. I wonder what this could possibly mean?

It will be sweet, but still another year out. The zl1 will be in its 4th model year when the GT500 hits dealers. So for it not to beat it would be a crime. There a little late to the party, but they will sell with the name Shelby attached to it.

Just read an on line article that 1/14/19 is the media debut date for the new GT500 just before the Detroit auto show. So, this is a publicity photo to hype the upcoming media release.

I am heavily considering it. If they make a coupe then I'm all in. If not then I'll get the X5M or X7. I'm not really a 4-door car kinda guy.

And that is what I'm getting at. That there was nothing "special" about it. It was just the only option available from Ford. Like the Hellcat.

I have seen at least four different mags/publications run the 1/4 mile in 12.1 seconds or less and @118 mph or faster with the '18 A10 PP1 GT and under 4 seconds 0-60. Hotrod.com ran 11.83 @ 119.5 mph. Car and Driver ran 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 12.1 @ 120 mph in the 1/4 mile. Motor Trend did 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and trapped 119 mph (12.1 seconds) in the 1/4 mile. Another online publication (can't remember which) ran the 1/4 in 11.98 sec @ 119 mph. I'd say that qualifies as fast for a stock GT. And, is the 1LE not a "package" as you say Ford offers packages to make their base models faster? That package makes the SS 1LE faster (around a track, that is) than a standard SS. Nothing wrong with packages being offered - gives people like me who want a fast, well handling car to buy a PP1 GT Premium w/ MagneDrive, no need to pay an extra grand for the PP2 (since the PP2 comes standard with MagneDrive and my GT PP1 has MagneDrive bringing them closer in price). And, truth be known, I've been a Camaro/GM guy my entire life (owned an '87 Z28 and modified 1995 Trans Am, and my Dad owns a 5th Gen SS), until the '18 GT came out...it looked and performed well enough that it turned me to the dark side over getting another GM pony car instead.

Yeah the coupe is gonna be new M8. All the M5 hardware but it should be a couple hundred pounds less. Will run 10s all day everyday with the AWD and trap ~130.

I’d take the M5 over a coupe version. The M5 is a bad MF’er.

You have to get in line here and agree that the 18 GT A10 is a 12:50s car and the A8/A10 SS is a 11 sec car. It is impossible that the toqueless Coyote can run any times you outline above. You must also dismiss any reviews which favor the GT, kidding of coarse or am I
