I Thought All Of Us Had Run Flats

I have a 22 SS 1LE with factory GY SC3s and I assumed that I had run flat tires. I thought this because I see so many posts about run flats and also because I have the factory sealant/compressor kit. The more I think about it, the more I think I'm making some bad assumptions. The fact I've got the sealant/compressor kit is probably an indication I DON'T have run flats. Also, I might've seen one or two posts about the 1LE and ZL1 models NOT having run flats. I went out and looked at the sidewall and don't think I see any indication of ROF. Can someone set me straight?

Also, I just splurged for some a new set of Conti ECS 02. I was doing this largely because of the reported poor performance of the SC3 in wet and cooler temps. Is that still the general consensus on the SC3 even if they aren't ROF?

You do not have run flats as 1LE option gives you significantly better tires as run flats are pretty much always inferior to non-run flats (and yes, that is why you get the inflation kit instead).
See https://www.tirerack.com/
and you can see OEM tire choices for your option combination to confirm vs other models.
And quick search of other tire threads here will show that you have made a great choice on the Conti ECS 02 as its one of top two preferred for general high performance summer driving. (and you already have the inflation kit!)

What is the other good choice for new tires (non-run flat) besides the Conti ECS 02? I'm about due for some new tires on my 2021 2SS with 20K miles.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is generally considered the gold standard. It and the Continental I'm getting are the most common recommendations from this forum.

I had an SS with the runflats and now an SS1LE. Of course you noted GY SC3 so you clearly already knew, but I guess I wanted to type this out for the heck of it.

To get deep down in the weeds (isn't that why we are here, to dork out on our cars?), I believe the SS with runflats is technically the "GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 3 RUNONFLAT"

The SS1LE (and ZL1 non-1LE) has the "GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3
(https://www.tirerack.com/tires/goody...-f1-supercar-3).

And lastly, to be MORE confusing, the ZL1 1LE has "GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3R", notice the extra R.

They are all Goodyear Eagle F1, but yet different.

I believe I've researched this pretty well, but is the consensus that all the SC3 models perform poorly in the wet and cooler temps?

Also, if I toss the OEM SC3s on FB Marketplace or Craigslist, what would be a fair asking price? They have about 3,500mi on them.

Yup. I have the PS4S and it's the best so far. Also the most expensive, unfortunately.

These SuperCar 3 tires, and even more the 3R variants on the ZL1 1LE, are made primarily for racing. They need heat in them to grip even in the dry, and while they are technically usable on the street, their everyday performance is not ideal. However, on the track they are fantastic.

I really wanted to buy the PS4S and was considering replacing the Goodyears with them when they were toast, but I think I'll keep the Goodyears as track tires. I also got a set of all-seasons instead of summer tires due to the climate I live in.

The next part does not apply to you I imagine, since you live in Texas, but may be useful for other people.

For daily duty I got the General G-MAX AS-05, the PS4S due to also being a summer tire fall into the same issue that the Goodyears do where they are not recommended to load under 7C due to risks of cracking. Since I plan to "store" the car outside over the winter, it will be subject to down to -40C, and even outside of the winter during the fall and spring we hit overnight temperatures around 0C.

I preface the following with the note that I have never been on a track, although I plan to start hopefully in 2024. I get my kicks from highway on/off-ramps and backroads. I run a square setup of 285/35R19 and they have been great so far.

The small differences:
- Overall grip is close enough that it makes no difference in my driving, a touch more rotation in the rear when pushing the car but not scary at all (more fun to be honest).
- A little bit softer ride.
- A little bit quieter.

The bigger differences:
- As I've seen mentioned here many times when moving away from the Goodyears: my paint gets way less rocks thrown against it.
- They are way more confident in rain storms, and I've driven them (on dry roads) down to -1C or -2C.
- They (should) last a lot longer.

As stated, the Goodyear SC3 on the 1LE is not a runflat. They are definitely a track-oriented tire and don't do that well in cool/cold or wet conditions. They do take a good amount of heat to "wake-up" and grip and unless its a 90+ degree day, they just don't get hot enough on the street to do that. A Michelin PS4S is going to be a much better high performance summer street tire, great in the rain, fantastic grip above 60 degrees. Between 30-60 outside temp, they're fine if you drive like a normal person. Grip starts to fall off quite a bit below 30 outside.

swapped the SC3 for yokohama advAN V601 for the skreet, and really like them so far. just a touch squishier on the highway, but heat up better (obviously) and feel great in the corners. $200 less than even the ECS02 as well.
