The one that is substantially lighter that was getting caught and finished with a lower top speed. My point was for a halo car 670hp is not great. So again, I’d rather have a supercharger and make more power, especially at higher elevations.

What I saw was the supercharged car with 90 more HP and a bunch more torque get its ass thoroughly kicked 0-60, 1/4 mile, and to the finish line.

Given more time it may have caught the Corvette but given even more time the Corvette would wave bye-bye on its way to around 200MPH.

670HP is plenty. Any car that can beat it is going to cost at least twice as much.

They did a u drag with the McLaren and Z06. The McLaren made the Z look silly.

Was just being funny.

I happen to like both cars. It's subjective, but to me the Shelby is far better looking.

Having said that, the Z06 outperforms the Shelby in pretty much every dimension and particularly the ones I care about. Faster top speed, faster 0-60, faster quarter mile, stops faster, better lateral Gs, and the Shelby is an oinker weighing in at over 4,000 lbs.

The Shelby wins the acceleration contest when you're getting into the 130-170 mph range, but I can't really find any other performance metric where the Shelby wins.

Given I don't often run from 130-170, but do like to go WOT at lower speeds, the Z06 wins that. Clearly it handles better being lighter and pulling significantly more Gs and beating the Shelby by a ton on the Nurburgring.

The Shelby gets beat on the Nurburgring by the 5th gen Z28, the C8 Stingray, the C8 Z06, the ZL1 and the ZL1 1LE.

When one halo car gets beat by another OK, I can see that. But when Ford's halo car gets beat by FIVE different GM products one from a previous generation and three of which aren't even their halo car....

And weighs how much more?

There is a video of a Mini making 400+ that embarrasses C7’s. Power to weight matters. So since you still don’t understand my point, what is the advantage of doing the Z06 as a N/A platform? If they do a ZR1 with 800+ it makes sense to give them product separation. It’s also easier to modify a boosted car. My SS makes over 800 wheel and I have a friend making over 1000 wheel on his GT500.

Maybe they're doing it for the same reason they didn't roll out the Z06 right away.

Lots of folks get excited by the new Vette and go buy one. A few years later many of them get excited by the new Z06 and trade in their current Vette to upgrade. A few laters later the SC Z06 comes out and those same people upgrade once again.

OTH, there may be issues fitting a SC V8 in that mid engine layout.

It also might have to do with the price point they want to hit and a calculation that adding that SC isn't going to appreciably impact sales.

Z06
5.5L flatplane NA
3681lbs
670/460

$160K

765LT
4L Twin Turbo
3060bls
755/590

McLaren did not just walk it, it destroyed it. So yes the Z06 plays in supercar terrirtory, but do not get ahead of yourselves. More money yadda yadda

The staggered sales approach makes sense. I’m thinking they want to quench appetite before the ZR1, but in typical GM fashion they’ll wait too long. With all this EV garbage being forced down our throats they need to move quickly.

Then wait for the ZR1 with turbos and 800+ horsepower.

They better get a move on with it. How long has the C8 been out now?

Why are folks surprised that every variant didn't come out at once?

It's coming. At launch we got the optional Z51 package. Then we eventually got the Z06. We also just got the E-Ray (which not really in the same "lane" as the Z06, but still provides some nice AWD and faster launching). Next up should be either the Z06 with the E-ray stuff added in, or Z06 with forced induction, or the all out balls to the wall Z06 with forced induction and E-Ray stuff lol.

Not always fun for enthusiasts to wait, but pretty normal for GM to wait 2 - 3 years before they release the real "big dawg" stuff after a new launch.
